Trump claims assassination attempt on him made his friends ‘religious’, Internet says ‘he’s milking this’
BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA: Donald Trump disclosed his friends and loved ones' reaction to the unsuccessful assassination attempt on him, at a fundraiser in Beverly Hills on Friday, September 14.
In footage exclusively obtained by Daily Mail, Trump mentioned that some of his friends have experienced a religious awakening following the startlingly narrow escape he had from an attempt on his life, noting that one of his sons made an outlandish golf analogy.
Donald Trump reveals his friends have become religious after assassination attempt on him
Donald Trump expressed his belief that the shooting incident during his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13 was God's way of saying, "we want you to help with our country".
He further added, "Some of my friends have become religious over this. My son said it was like dropping a one foot putt. It would be the equivalent from that distance, and then [the shooter] was taken out by a sharpshooter."
The 78-year-old Republican presidential nominee went on to say, "I have to say this about the Secret Service they were very brave because I was down and they were all on top of me within seconds, they were in the line of fire.'"
He further mentioned the hospital to which he was admitted and praised its staff for their loving care.
Thomas Matthew Crooks, aged 20, fired eight rounds, one striking Trump's ear and three hitting rally attendees, resulting in one fatality, at the rally.
Investigation into Donald Trump assassination attempt uncovers Secret Service failures
Investigation into the shooting incident revealed that the Secret Service reportedly was taking time in enhancing security for Donald Trump during his campaign, despite an Iranian plot targeting American political figures.
American figures such as Senator Richard Blumenthal, a member of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, have indicated their anticipation of significant revelations from the investigation's outcomes.
"I think the American people are going to be shocked, astonished, and appalled by what we will report to them about the failures by the Secret Service in this assassination attempt on the former president," he said on Thursday, September 12.
