WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump again falsely took credit for the Veterans Choice Progam (VCP) originally implemented by his predecessor, Barack Obama, during a Fourth of July event, reported Raw Story.

The anti-Trump account Patriot Takes released the "leaked" video on X, where the 45th president made the claim in an Independence Day message to his supporters.

The Veterans Choice Program was implemented by former President Obama in 2014, which enabled eligible veterans to receive healthcare from community providers instead of waiting for VA appointments or traveling to VA facilities.

However, Trump has multiple times attempted to take credit for the program even while he was in the White House.

For instance, in 2020, he suddenly ended a presidential press conference when then-CBS reporter Paula Reid noted the then-president was wrong about him creating the VCP.

What is Trump's latest claim about his role in implementing the Veterans Choice Program?

"Our military, we do, as you know, we did choice, Veterans Choice, where, for our VA, where we had the highest rating that, I think, anybody's ever had, we're at 92 percent," the MAGA spearhead said in the leaked video.

"Now it's back down into the 40s again, but we had Veterans Choice," he continued, adding the military has "gone to hell" with "woke people at the top."

Trump's latest baseless claim came as President Joe Biden struggled to revive confidence within the Democratic Party over his capability for a re-election bid after his lackluster debate performance last week.

Some Democratic officials and donors have intensified calls for him to suspend the campaign for a younger face. Since the debate, Biden has vowed multiple times that he would be the Democratic nominee, quashing all talks about his exit.

The president, who faltered in front of Trump during the debate, regained his energy and blasted the latter during a campaign rally in Wisconsin on Friday, July 5.

The incumbent mocked his GOP opponent's 2020 remark that George Washington won the Revolutionary War by capturing airports and also brought up the alleged comment where Trump disparaged fallen American soldiers of World War I as "losers" and "suckers."

Internet slams Trump for taking credit for Veterans Choice Progam

Criticizing Trump for his false remarks, netizens pointed out he had done nothing credit-worthy during his time in office.

"Trump is an imposter," a user claimed.

"He has for years and has been called on it a thousand times but he's a grifter to the core. Never give up the con. Lying Don and stopping now," another said.

"Quite possibly the most dishonest human to have ever lived," added a third user.

"Because he hasn't done anything for anyone except himself," read a fourth response.

"It’s cause he hasn’t done anything else (Except some prison reform. That was good)," another person wrote.

"Is there any time he ever talks about anything other than himself. Even if it’s a lie. He never ever ever talks about anything else," an individual said.

"We need to start calling Trump MasterCard because he is always trying to credit for other people's work," someone else quipped.

"Yes, Trump tries to take credit for a lot of things he DIDN'T do . . . that's cause when he was in office he didn't do anything but give tax breaks to the rich," another user chimed in.
