Trump gets candid about turning 80: ‘It’s not a number I like’
WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump just admitted that he is not exactly excited about reaching a major milestone birthday.
Just days before turning 80, the Republican leader made a candid remark while celebrating the birthday of Dr Mehmet Oz in the Oval Office.
The comments come even as Trump prepares to spend the weekend hosting a UFC event at the White House as part of celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the US.

Trump jokes about turning 80 while celebrating Dr Mehmet Oz’s birthday
The moment took place during a birthday gathering for Dr Mehmet Oz, who turned 66 on Wednesday, June 10.
Oz, currently serving as Administrator of the US Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, shared a video from the Oval Office showing himself seated beside Trump.
During the conversation, Oz mentioned the upcoming UFC event that will be held at the White House.
Trump invited him to attend before shifting the focus back to the birthday celebration.
The president praised Oz and wished him well, saying, “You’re a young man, you have many, many years to go, you’re doing a fantastic job.”
Trump appeared relaxed as he spoke with Oz, but his mood changed slightly when the topic turned to his own birthday, which falls on June 14.
“I just wanted to wish you a happy birthday. You don’t have to wish me a happy birthday, because I’m not happy about that birthday,” Trump said. “It’s a number that I never thought really too much about. It’s not a number I like, but I’m here nonetheless.”
The remark quickly stood out because it offered a rare glimpse into Trump's thoughts about aging.
Known for projecting confidence and energy, the president appeared willing to acknowledge that turning 80 is not a milestone he has been eager to embrace. It also drew attention to the contrast between his personal feelings about the birthday and the large-scale celebrations planned around it.
Trump to spend 80th birthday hosting UFC Freedom 250
Despite his reluctance to celebrate the number itself, Trump is expected to spend his 80th birthday at a high-profile event on the South Lawn of the White House.
The president is hosting UFC fights as part of celebrations linked to 250 years of American independence.
The seven-fight card is expected to draw several members of Trump's family and inner circle.
First lady Melania Trump is expected to attend. Other guests include Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner, Eric Trump, Lara Trump, Donald Trump Jr, and his new wife Bettina Trump.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt is also expected to be among those attending the gathering.
