WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump just complimented Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on her looks.

During a peace summit in Egypt on Monday aimed at ending the Gaza war, the three-times-married 79-year-old had some very flattering words for his Italian counterpart, the only woman standing among roughly 30 male world leaders.

Trump compliments Giorgia Meloni

Trump couldn’t resist acknowledging Meloni, but he knew the risk. “I’m not allowed to say it because usually it’s the end of your political career if you say it — she’s a beautiful young woman,” he told the crowd.

He doubled down, “If you use the word ‘beautiful’ in the United States about a woman, that’s the end of your political career, but I’ll take my chances.”

Turning to face Meloni directly, he asked, “You don’t mind being called beautiful, right? Because you are.”

Meloni, 48, smiled politely and nodded as the rest of the world leaders stood around awkwardly.

Trump also thanked Meloni for attending the summit. “We appreciate it," he said.

He went on to heap praise on the Italian leader, calling her “incredible” and “a very successful politician.”

“And they really respect her in Italy,” he added.

Meloni was the sole woman on stage as about 30 leaders stood behind Trump to sign a declaration pushing for peace in Gaza.

Mutual admiration between Trump and Giorgia Meloni

It’s not the first time Trump and Meloni have traded compliments. The two right-wing allies seem to have a bit of a mutual fan club thing going on.

During a White House meeting about the Russia-Ukraine conflict in August, Trump was caught on a hot mic laying on the charm again. “How are you doing? You alright? You look fantastic,” he told Meloni while greeting her.

Meloni later returned the favor by complimenting Trump on how he handled tough questions from reporters.

'Historic' peace deal brokered by Trump

Trump and other mediators signed what he called a “historic peace deal” aimed at ending the Gaza war. The meeting came after all remaining living hostages held by Hamas since its October 7, 2023, attacks were released.

Trump called the deal a major success. “Phase two has already started. The phases are all a little bit mixed in with each other. You can start cleaning up. You look at Gaza, it’s a lot of clean-up,” he said.

He also praised the timing of the accord. “There was getting to be a period of time over the last few months when the world wanted peace and Israel wanted peace. If you had gone on for another three or four more years, keeping fighting, fighting, fighting, it was getting bad, it was getting heated. So the timing of this is brilliant," he gushed.

Trump also recalled his conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, “I said: ‘Bibi, you will be remembered for this far more than if you kept the thing going, going – kill, kill, kill.’”
