WASHINGTON, DC: Leave it to President Donald Trump to throw in an abrupt hairline compliment during a routine White House sports ceremony, shortly after he was trolled for his bald spot online.

Trump lit up the East Room with his trademark humor as he welcomed the Florida Gators men’s basketball team to Washington, DC, for their national championship win, the Irish Star reported.

After shouting out sophomore star Thomas Haugh for sinking back-to-back threes in a high-stakes Elite Eight battle, Trump quipped, “He’s got good hair too… He’s got no hair loss problems, I can tell you!”

Donald Trump meets Thomas Haugh at White House

Thomas Haugh’s White House visit was more than just a ceremony, it was a dream come true.

Though raised in New Oxford, Pennsylvania, Haugh was a lifelong Florida Gators fanatic. His walls were plastered with team posters, and his mother even showed Florida’s coaching staff a pic of her son “Tebowing” in a Tim Tebow Broncos jersey.

When head coach Todd Golden visited the Haugh home during recruitment, it was clear this wasn’t just a high schooler picking a team, it was destiny, 247 Sports reported.

After helping lead Florida to a thrilling 65-63 win over Houston in the national championship, Haugh had one wish. “Hopefully, I get to meet [Tebow] one day,” he told CBS Sports.

And Trump made sure that happened.

Time Tebow, Donald Trump, and a championship for the ages

The ceremony turned into what can be called a Gatorpalooza, with Tim Tebow, easily one of the most beloved college athletes ever, showing up to celebrate.

Trump couldn’t resist roasting the New York Jets while pumping up the Heisman-winning icon. "You did damn well in the pros, despite being on the Jets," Trump joked, scoring laughs from the crowd.

Then, he broke down the Gators’ gritty win.

“On Houston's final possession, the Gators clamped down, pressured the ball – that's right, I saw that game, it was crazy game – and forced a turnover. The ball rolled loose, and the Gators clinched a national championship, 65 to 63, in one of the most exciting games and championships they've ever had," Trump said.

He tossed it to Tebow for his thoughts, “That was a hell of a game, Tim, what do you think? Pretty good, right?”

“The best,” Tebow responded.

Donald Trump compliments Thomas Haugh on his hair

As Donald Trump wrapped up his remarks, he made sure to highlight Thomas Haugh’s role in Florida’s road to the Final Four, and that's when he threw in the hair compliment.

“The Elite Eight brought to a face-off with Texas Tech. Down by nine with under four minutes left, Florida responded with a furious rally, led by sophomore Thomas Haugh, who made back-to-back three-pointers, back to back,” Trump said, before joking, “He's got good hair, too. Nice hair. He's got no hair-loss problem, I can tell you.”

The POTUS added, “Thomas was still on full display as he earned his fourth double-double of the season by recording 20 points and 11 rebounds, wow, against the Red Raiders. And with an 84-79 victory over Texas Tech, you punched your ticket to the Final Four. Not easy to do, thank you, not easy to do, fellas.”

The crowd ate it up.

Donald Trump trolled for bald spot during meeting with South African president

WASHINGTON, DC - MAY 21: President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa (L) and U.S. President Donald Trump exchange words during a meeting in the Oval Office of the White House on May 21, 2025 in Washington, DC. Relations between the two countries have been strained since Trump signed an executive order in February that claimed white South Africans are the victims of government land confiscation and race-based “genocide” while admitting some of those Afrikaners as refugees to the United States. Trump also halted all foreign aid to South Africa and expelled the country’s Ambassador to the U.S. Ebrahim Rasool. (Photo by Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images)

Donald Trump's praise of Haugh's thick locks came after social media was flooded with people mocking the president for a bald spot that appeared during his meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.

"Someone please tell Trump we can see his shiny bald head underneath his cotton-floss hairdo," one posted on X.

"The bald spot inside his head is bigger. Is this part of his Golden Dome. I could go on... and on...," another wrote on Facebook.

"His hair is an interesting confection. The strands are combed in various directions in order to conceal his bald spot. As you can tell, I do not have the patience to go to such lengths," a comment read.

"I’m sure he would say ‘I am not bald, but I’m the best bald person in the world, nobody has ever been balder than me ever before - I am the greatest bald person the world has ever known,'" someone else quipped.

"It's a very complex comb over requiring a few hours of attention every day. Care must be taken not to break the surface and reveal the hollow interior," another added.
