WASHINGTON, D.C.: President Donald Trump has joked that he’s not a senior but a lot younger than his age.
The 79-year-old Republican leader made the remark during an event at the White House where he hosted business leaders for a small business summit.
Trump says he's 'far younger' despite approaching 80
Addressing the guests, he quipped, “I'm not a senior. I'm far younger... I feel the same as I felt 50 years ago.”
“I'll say, 'I'm not feeling well.' Someday I might say that. Actually, I won't have to say it because you'll be able to see it just like you did in the last administration,” he noted.
Trump boasts about acing cognitive tests
Trump also insisted on taking a cognitive test for anyone “running for president or vice president”.
"In my opinion, anybody running for president or vice president should take a cognitive test. And no president has ever taken one except me. I've taken three of them, and I've aced each one, one in the first administration, two over here,” the POTUS added.
Trump also mocked former president Joe Biden, 83, while talking about his mental and physical health.
“How do you think Biden would have done? I don't think... he might not have gotten that first question right,” he stated, before claiming, “I think everyone in this room is brilliant, but nobody's going to get all 30 questions correct, nobody. Because when you get to those last questions, they're pretty hard. You've got to be pretty sharp.”
Trump told Florida retirement community that he's 'much younger than' them
However, this was not the first time Trump has called himself young.
While speaking at a retirement community in Florida on May 1, the US commander-in-chief told the attendees that he does not “happen to be a senior. I’m much younger than you. Look at you, old guys, wouldn’t you like to be my age?”
“Now, I’m much, much younger than the people in this room, but I feel I can relate to you anyway,” he stated, before calling out his critics: “See, now the fake news will go tonight, and they’ll say, ‘he’s claiming to be younger than the people.’ Do you understand?”
Also earlier this year while being asked by a reporter about his 80th birthday in June this year and how he's feeling about his growing age, Trump replied that he feels “physically and mentally" the same as he did “50 years ago".
Trump had previously shared that for his 80th birthday in 2026, he’s “going to have a big UFC fight at the White House — right at the White House, on the grounds of the White House.”
