WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump joked about staying in office beyond his four-year term limit on Monday, May 4, as he hosted business leaders at the White House for a small business summit.

The POTUS made the remark while speaking about the tax deductions in the 2025 One Big Beautiful Bill Act. He said, “I was sort of against that. I said let's do it for a shorter period of time, but we did it. It's the right thing.”

Trump suggests he might run for third term in office

“Now, when I get out of office in, let's say, eight or nine years from now, I'll be able to use it myself,” Trump added as the attendees laughed and cheered, although the US Constitution allows only two terms as president to any individual.

The soon-to-be-80-year-old leader also boasted about his mental health fitness as he addressed his guests.

He claimed, “Anybody running for president or vice president should take a cognitive test. And no president has ever taken one except me. I've taken three of them, and I've aced each one, one in the first administration, two over here.”

Trump mocks Biden's mental fitness

Trump then went on to take a dig at former president Joe Biden’s mental fitness, despite himself facing allegations of declining mental acuity since his first presidency.

“How do you think Biden would have done? I don't think... he might not have gotten that first question right,” he stated.

Biden was initially running against Trump in the 2024 presidential race. But the then 82-year-old Democrat had to step back from his re-election campaign because of widespread concerns about his age and fitness for office.

Trump claims even brilliant people can't pass cognitive test

Also, during the event, Trump asserted that even his guests won’t be able to pass the cognitive test.

“I think everyone in this room is brilliant, but nobody's going to get all 30 questions correct, nobody. Because when you get to those last questions, they're pretty hard. You've got to be pretty sharp,” he noted.

Trump asserts that Iran war is a success

Apart from this, Trump also praised himself for taking action against Iran while suggesting that the US is doing great.

“We're truly making America great again. We're doing record, record business. We can't let Iran have a nuclear weapon. We hit all new highs, and I said we have to take care of business because we can't let that happen,” he claimed despite the economic strain because of the war against Tehran.
