WASHINGTON, DC: As President Donald Trump addressed the voters of Michigan on Monday, July 27, ahead of the primary, he mainly focused on criticizing Democrats, comparing them to communists, and claiming that Democrat-run cities are dirty.

Among the few topics Trump touched on during his hour-long speech was his executive order on late-arriving ballots, as he urged the Supreme Court to let him reinstate it.

The request comes after a federal judge in June blocked key parts of the order, including provisions that would create a federal voter list and direct the US Postal Service to deliver ballots only under certain conditions.

After lower courts refused to pause that ruling, the Trump administration turned to the Supreme Court for relief.

In the filing, Solicitor General D John Sauer argued that the legal challenge is premature because the US Postal Service and other federal agencies have not yet decided how they will implement the executive order.

Trump has long criticized the widespread use of mail-in voting, repeatedly claiming that the election system is vulnerable to fraud.

Appeals court blocks mail voting order in 23 states

A federal appeals court on Saturday rejected the administration's request to enforce key provisions of President Trump's executive order tightening mail-in voting rules in 23 Democratic-led states ahead of this year's midterm elections.

In a 2-1 decision, the First US Circuit Court of Appeals declined to pause a lower court injunction blocking several parts of the order while the administration pursues its appeal.

The ruling marks another legal setback for the administration's election integrity agenda and could prompt the Justice Department to seek emergency relief from the Supreme Court.

During his one hour and five minutes on stage, Trump gave a free-wheeling campaign-style address, ticking through various policy actions taken by his administration so far in his second term.
