WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump launched into another late-night outburst on social media, this time targeting Maryland Governor Wes Moore after the Democrat questioned the president’s memory during a heated exchange earlier in the week.

The feud began after Moore invited Trump to join him on a walk through Baltimore, a challenge issued following Trump’s threats to withhold federal funds from the city.

Donald Trump’s online retaliation over the weekend included warnings that he might strip Baltimore of federal support, a move that prompted Wes Moore to mock the president’s fitness and remind the public of his lack of military service.

The 79-year-old president then claimed on Monday, August 25, that Moore had once called him “the greatest president of my lifetime” during a meeting in 2024.

“He came over to me, hugged me, shook my hand. He said, ‘Sir, you’re the greatest president of my lifetime.’ I said, ‘It’s really nice that you say that. I’d love you to say it publicly, but I don’t think you can do that,’” Trump said.

Moore, 46, wasted no time disputing Trump’s version of events, firing off a pair of posts on X: “lol” and “keep telling yourself that, Mr President.”

By Wednesday, August 27, Moore sharpened his attack, calling Trump’s “absolutely comical memory” a worrying sign, a comment that appeared to weigh on the president long after.

He added, “The president seems to be obsessed with me.”

Donald Trump revives years-old Bronze Star controversy

In the early hours of Thursday morning, August 28, just past 2 am in Washington, Donald Trump resurfaced an old controversy about Wes Moore’s military record. He reposted a 2023 Hill article detailing how Moore had once mistakenly claimed a Bronze Star on his 2006 White House Fellowship application.

“But is that the end of his political career. He was very disrespectful to the Office of the President!” Trump fumed in a Truth Social post, suggesting the matter could be the end of Moore’s political career.

The episode dates back to Moore’s deployment to Afghanistan from 2005 to 2006, when a senior officer reportedly encouraged him to include the Bronze Star in his application, believing the award had already been approved. Moore later explained the inclusion was an “honest mistake,” adding that he trusted the word of his deputy brigade commander.

Although Moore did earn other commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal. He eventually admitted he was “saddened” to learn the Bronze Star had not been finalized. The officer in question later confirmed Moore’s account.

Still, Moore acknowledged he should have corrected interviewers who mistakenly credited him with the decoration in media appearances, including a 2006 PBS interview and a 2010 spot on The Colbert Report.

Wes Moore, a US Army veteran, has not shied away from going after Trump’s own record. In their ongoing exchanges, he labeled him “President Bone Spurs,” referencing the Vietnam War-era medical exemption secured through a family acquaintance.

“President Bone Spurs will do anything to get out of walking—even if that means spouting off more lies about the progress we’re making on public safety in Maryland,” Moore wrote online.

He even jabbed that his team could provide Trump with a golf cart to make a Baltimore walk easier.

Trump, meanwhile, has spent recent weeks trading barbs with other Democratic governors, including Gavin Newsom of California and JB Pritzker of Illinois.

Internet reacts after Donald Trump rages at Wes Moore

President Donald Trump took aim at Maryland Governor Wes Moore in the early morning hours, digging up a years-old controversy and blasting him on Truth Social.

Trump resurfaced a 2023 Hill report detailing how Moore once apologized for mistakenly claiming on a 2006 White House Fellowship application that he had received a Bronze Star.

One user asked, “How do you ‘accidentally’ claim a Bronze Star?”

Another fumed, “Another politician who's a LIAR and keeps their job.”

Others piled on: “Exactly how does lying about receiving a bronze star qualify as an ‘honest’ mistake? It was a mistake, alright, but there was nothing honest about it.”

Another wrote, “I heard a denial, not an apology…”

One critic went further, lamenting, “Stolen valor and not even the guts to admit it. Yellow stripe of cowardice is the only thing he ever earned.”

Another user commented, “Honest mistake” is just more lying!”
