ROCKY MOUNT, NORTH CAROLINA: President Donald Trump referenced First Lady Melania Trump’s undergarments while discussing the 2022 FBI search of Mar-a-Lago during a campaign rally in North Carolina.
During the speech, Trump also revisited the 2020 presidential election, calling it “rigged” and criticizing the outcome. He described the FBI search as a personal attack, highlighting disruptions to his household, including Melania Trump’s belongings.
Trump revives 2020 election claims at North Carolina rally
Trump told the crowd that Americans went to bed believing he had won the 2020 election, only to wake up to a different outcome. He suggested the result was fraudulent and added, “By the way, you have not heard the last of that.”
Trump details FBI search of Mar-a-Lago and disruption to personal items
The president described the August 2022 FBI search of Mar-a-Lago as a raid targeting a “popular president, a former president.” He claimed agents disrupted the home, including Melania Trump’s clothing drawers.
Trump described Melania Trump as “a very meticulous person” who keeps her belongings perfectly arranged. “Her undergarments — always nice, sometimes referred to as panties — are folded perfect, wrapped. They’re like, so perfect. I think that she steams them, makes sure they’re just sitting,” he said.
He claimed the FBI raid left drawers in disorder. “She opened the drawers, and it was not that way. They were a mess. It was all over the place,” Trump said. He also alleged agents entered his son’s room, calling those involved “disgusting” and adding, “We have all the evidence now. We have to do something about it. It’s illegal, and it’s disgusting.”
Former DOJ official claims Biden White House coordinated before Mar-a-Lago search
Chad Mizelle, former chief of staff to Attorney General Pam Bondi, told The New York Post that officials in President Joe Biden’s White House coordinated with the Department of Justice ahead of the Mar-a-Lago search.
Mizelle reviewed emails between Biden’s White House Counsel’s Office, DOJ under Attorney General Merrick Garland, and the National Archives and Records Administration in the months prior to the search. He alleged the communications show White House involvement in what he called “the most unprecedented, unjust, and improper law enforcement act in the history of our country.”
According to Mizelle, officials discussed documents with NARA and then abruptly stopped written communications after someone suggested taking the discussion “offline.” He said this demonstrated coordination between the White House, DOJ, and NARA regarding the Mar-a-Lago documents.
