WASHINGTON, DC: First Lady Melania Trump is stepping into the spotlight with the release of the first teaser trailer for ‘Melania’, a documentary that chronicles the 20 days leading up to President Donald Trump’s second inauguration.

The trailer debuted on Wednesday, December 17, on ‘Fox & Friends’ and opens with Melania preparing to enter the US Capitol Rotunda ahead of the swearing-in ceremony. Dressed in a navy ensemble, she turns to the camera and says, ‘Here we go again.’

The documentary, directed by filmmaker Brett Ratner, follows the first lady as she navigates the transition back into the role of first lady.

It was licensed by Amazon as part of a $40 million deal reached earlier this year and will be released exclusively in theaters on January 30.

Behind-the-scenes look at the transition period

The preview moves between Mar-a-Lago in Florida, Trump Tower in New York City, and transition headquarters in Washington, DC, offering glimpses of preparations for the inauguration and related events.

Scenes include fittings for Melania’s inaugural ball gown, a photoshoot that produced her black-and-white official portrait, and other moments inside the East Wing residence. The trailer also shows her reviewing materials with staff and coordinating security logistics.

At one point, Melania listens as Trump rehearses a speech. "My proudest legacy will be that of peacemaker," Trump says.

"Peacemaker and unifier," Melania responds.

Personal moments and family scenes

The trailer includes brief family moments, including appearances by their son, Baron Trump and Melania’s father during behind-the-scenes inauguration preparations.

It also features a phone call between the Trumps following the ceremony.

"Hi, Mr President, congratulations," Melania says.

Trump responds by asking whether she has watched the trailer.

"I did not," she replies. "Yeah, I will see it on the news."

Global theatrical release planned

The 104-minute film is set for a global theatrical release across North America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Israel. Amazon is also planning to launch a related documentary series in the coming months.

Melania Trump is credited as an executive producer and has said that she was involved in every stage of the project, from creative direction to post-production.

"History is set in motion during the 20 days of my life prior to the US Presidential Inauguration," she said in a statement. "For the first time, global audiences are invited to witness this pivotal chapter unfold."

Amazon deal and production details

The documentary deal followed a competitive bidding process involving several major studios. Amazon and MGM ultimately secured the rights, with the agreement covering both the feature film and a related series.
