DETROIT, MICHIGAN: Donald Trump walked the stage in silence for nearly 17 minutes on Friday night, October 18, in Detroit after his microphone failed.

The GOP nominee and former president was gearing up to discuss tariffs, one of his preferred topics, hinting at it as “the most beautiful word in the dictionary,” when suddenly the sound ceased.

Crowd rallies behind Trump as he roams stage in silence for 17 minutes due to mic issue

The crowd chanted "USA" and "We love Trump" in support. However, without a microphone, Trump merely roamed the stage. Appearing frustrated, he occasionally turned his back to the majority of the audience.

NBC News' Garrett Haake reported that the sound issue was resolved after 17 minutes. In the interim, the former president appeared visibly agitated on stage. When the speech resumed, he vowed not to pay the individual responsible for the venue's audio mishap.

“I won’t pay the bill to this stupid company,” Trump said. “If it goes out again I’ll sue the ass off that company.”

For the second time in a week, an event was disrupted; previously, on Monday, October 14, Trump ended a town hall prematurely to play music when several audience members required medical assistance, as per ABC News.

On this occasion, Trump seemed to have minimal control over the situation, remaining silent as the messages were displayed on the screens: “Technical Difficulties" and "Complicated Business.”

Trump is well-known for his attention to his image and the details of his rallies, frequently making remarks about the microphones and teleprompters.

Internet mocks Donald Trump’s mic mishap

As soon as the news about Trump's microphone problem hit social media, users began to react. A user said mocking the former president, "Hahahaha. He kills everything he touches."

Another added with laughing emoji asking, "They switched off the mic? #TrumpIsPathetic".

The third commentator focused on Trump's statement about refusing to pay the company's bill, "Lol... he wasn't going to pay them anyway."

"Judging from his track record, he wasn’t going to pay the bill in the first place," said a critic.

A person asked, "Since when does Trump pay his bills?"

Other claimed, "They did it for a good cause".
