Trump plans to spend $400M-$500M from his super PAC to back GOP in midterms
WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump on Friday, September 4, said that he plans to spend between $400 million and $500 million from his political war chest to help Republican candidates in the November midterm elections.
The pledge comes as Republicans in competitive House and Senate races have been waiting for Trump’s super PAC, MAGA Inc, to increase its spending. Trump said he would personally decide which candidates receive support as the party seeks to retain control of Congress.
Trump promises to deploy hundreds of millions for GOP races
When asked about his plans for the midterms, Trump said he intends to put a substantial portion of his political operation’s funds toward Republican candidates.
“Well, I have, I think I have like close to a billion dollars in the super PAC, and I'm allocating probably four or five hundred million dollars, so I'll be spending. For the midterm election? Yeah, we're going to spend a lot of money because we don't want to lose our country,” Trump said.

Trump said he would determine where to direct the money based on which Republican candidates he believes are competitive. “How do I make it? I sit down and I say, Let's do that.' I'm going to be making contributions to various campaigns of people that I think are good Republicans and I think are good, people that I think are going to win and can win, or are close to winning,” Trump said.
Trump added that he believes Republicans have a chance to perform well in the midterms and said he plans to campaign for candidates in competitive races.
The spending pledge comes after MAGA Inc had spent relatively little on the 2026 midterm contests. The super PAC’s only significant reported donation to a candidate so far was an $827,000 payment to the campaign of Senator Darline Graham. Before Graham’s Senate bid, MAGA Inc had spent about $18,000 on a 2026 midterm race.
MAGA Inc cash total falls below Trump’s estimate
Federal Election Commission filings show MAGA Inc the PAC reported $400,559,788.98 in cash on hand as of June 30, 2026, substantially below Trump’s estimate that he has “close to a billion dollars” in the super PAC.
The group raised about $401 million by the end of the second quarter and has spent about $21 million since the beginning of 2025, including roughly $1.7 million in independent expenditures. MAGA Inc has nevertheless accumulated more cash than the major party committees, giving Trump’s political operation significant resources to deploy during the final stretch of the campaign.
The group has already begun some activity in battleground states, including funding an event featuring Vice President JD Vance in Michigan. But the spending so far remains far below the amount Trump said he intends to deploy.
Trump also indicated that not all of the money would necessarily be spent during the 2026 cycle, saying he could use some of the funds during the 2028 presidential election.
