Trump posthumously awards Charlie Kirk Medal of Freedom, calls him ‘fearless warrior for liberty’

WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump posthumously awarded Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, the Presidential Medal of Freedom on Tuesday, October 14, calling him “a fearless warrior for liberty” and a "martyr for truth and freedom."
“Today, we're here to honor and remember a fearless warrior for liberty, a beloved leader who galvanized the next generation like nobody I've ever seen before. And an American patriot of the deepest conviction, the finest quality and the highest caliber. The late, great Charlie Kirk,” Trump said from the Rose Garden.

Trump says Charlie Kirk relentlessly fought for values he upheld
Trump said that Kirk relentlessly fought for a better and stronger America. “Five weeks ago, our nation was robbed of this extraordinary champion. He was assassinated in the prime of his life for boldly speaking the truth, for living his faith, and relentlessly fighting for a better and stronger America. He loved this country,” Trump continued.
“And that's why it's my privilege to posthumously award Charles James Kirk our nation's highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom.”
He said, “Charlie is attaining a far more important milestone.” “We are entering his name forever into the eternal roster of true American heroes. He’s a true American hero.”

Trump described Kirk as “a martyr for truth and freedom,” praising his steadfast defense of free speech.
“Charlie never missed an opportunity to remind us of the Judeo-Christian principles of our nation’s founding, or to share his deep Christian faith,” Trump said.
“In his final moments, Charlie testified to the greatness of America and to the glory of our Savior, with whom he now rests in heaven and he is going to make heaven. He’s looking down on us right now.”
Drawing historical parallels, Trump compared Kirk to figures such as Martin Luther King Jr and Abraham Lincoln, as well as to ancient philosophers like Socrates, saying each had “the courage to stand for truth, no matter the cost.”

Erika Kirk accepts Medal of Freedom honoring late husband Charlie Kirk
Charlie’s widow, Erika Kirk, accepted the award on his behalf, delivering an emotional tribute to her late husband. “The very existence of the Presidential Medal of Freedom reminds us that the national interests of the United States has always been freedom,” she said.
The medal was awarded on what would have been Kirk’s 32nd birthday. “It’s such an honor and the recognition of a life lived for defending freedom, and that’s what Charlie fought for until his last breath,” she said. “You’ve given him the best birthday gift he could ever have.”
“There was no limit to what he would have sacrificed to defend freedom for all,” Erika added. “And if the moment had come, he probably would have run for president but not out of ambition. He would only have done it if that was something that he believed that his country needed from a servant’s heart standpoint.”
Kirk co-founded Turning Point USA in 2012, building it into a major conservative youth movement that energized college campuses across America. His death last month sparked a wave of tributes, many of which praised his role in inspiring a generation.
