WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump showered praise on Kristi Noem, the head of the Department of Homeland Security. He commended her handling of the nationwide protests over ICE enforcement, claiming that critics are targeting her not for her actions but because she is a 'woman'.

“Things are going after Kristi Noem because she is a woman,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Friday, January 30, adding that she “did a great job.” Notably, his remarks came just a day after he chose not to invite Noem to speak at a cabinet meeting.

Trump defends Kristi Noem against critics’ attacks

Donald Trump did not hold back in defending Kristi Noem against her critics. He stated, “The Radical Left Lunatics, Insurrectionists, Agitators, and Thugs, are going after Kristi Noem, because she is a woman, and has done a really GREAT JOB!”

Trump highlighted what he described as improvements under his administration, saying, “The Border disaster that I inherited is fixed, the violent criminals that were allowed into our Country through Sleepy Joe’s ‘sick’ Open Border Policy, are largely gone, or being strongly sought for purposes of removal, and the Murder Rate in the USA just reached the lowest level in history, 125 years! Washington, DC, is now one of the safest cities in America-Likewise, numerous other once very dangerous cities!"

"Republicans, don’t let these Crooked Democrats, who are stealing Billions of Dollars from Minnesota, and other Cities and States from all over the Country, push you around.” He also sent a message to Noem’s critics, highlighting that voters had approved his choices.

Trump praised her handling of the US-Mexico border. He also dismissed the large anti‑ICE protests in Minneapolis as a “SCAM,” saying they were meant to distract from a fraud scandal in Minnesota.

“They are using this aggressive protest SCAM to obfuscate, camouflage, and hide their CRIMINAL ACTS of theft and insurrection. They should all be in jail. I was elected on Strong Borders, and Law and Order, among many other things. Thank you to Secretary Kristi Noem. Remember, ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES!!! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP.”

Kristi Noem stands firm on law and order

Kristi Noem has faced criticism for how she responded after deadly shootings by federal immigration officers in Minnesota. She has faced criticism for how she has managed disaster aid programs through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which she oversees.

She faced strong criticism after Alex Pretti, a Minneapolis resident, was shot and killed by Border Patrol officers during immigration enforcement. Soon after, Noem said Pretti had been planning to “inflict maximum damage” on law enforcement and was “brandishing a gun.”

Videos from bystanders, however, showed a very different scene, which fueled controversy.

Despite the backlash, Noem has continued to stress her commitment to law and order and enforcing immigration rules. She regularly updates the public on immigration activity and arrests, and criticism has not changed her approach.
