Trump revels in Gayle King’s bleak CBS future as he targets another media adversary: ‘Career is over!'

WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump has launched a blistering attack on 'CBS Mornings' co-host Gayle King, celebrating speculation that her time at the network may be nearing its end.
Trump declared on his Truth Social platform that King’s “career is over,” accusing her of lacking loyalty, talent and ratings, and suggesting she squandered a supposed earlier affinity for him.

Trump mocks Gayle King’s ‘tanking ratings’ in tirade
Trump’s comments were posted alongside a link to a New York Post story claiming King’s ratings have “tanked,” and that internal CBS executives are questioning whether she should remain on air.
The report alleges her continued presence is tied to a diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) push from Paramount co-CEO George Cheeks. With her contract reportedly expiring in May 2026, unnamed insiders claim King and her producer have been able to shape the show’s editorial “agenda” with Cheeks’ support.
“Gayle King’s career is over. She should have stayed with her belief in TRUMP,” Trump wrote. “She never had the courage to do so. No talent, no ratings, no strength!!!”
Both CBS and King have remained silent on the president’s attack. It also remains unclear what Trump meant by King’s alleged prior “belief” in him, given the anchor’s history of challenging and criticizing him during interviews.
Trump escalates feud amid CBS shake-up
King’s situation comes amid broader turmoil at CBS, whose late-night landscape was rocked in June when the network announced that 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert', hosted by one of Trump’s fiercest on-air critics, will end in May 2026.

While CBS cited financial downsizing as the reason, the move followed a $16 million settlement the network paid to Trump and was announced as parent company Paramount sought regulatory approval from Trump’s administration to complete its merger with Skydance Media, permission that has since been granted.

Trump has a history of publicly feuding with media personalities, including Jimmy Kimmel and Seth Meyers, and has repeatedly accused networks like CBS of pushing “woke” agendas under the guise of news and entertainment.
His latest swipe at King signals an escalation of his cultural offensive as the 2026 election cycle approaches, and throws another high-profile media figure into the spotlight of his ongoing battles with what he brands “fake news.”
