LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Conservative pundit Megyn Kelly, in her latest criticism of Donald Trump, said he is intentionally trying to make the political situation favourable for Democrats ahead of the midterms later this year.
Her remarks were based on the Epstein case and the “Dignity Act,” which was sponsored by 20 Republicans and 20 Democrats.
Kelly warns Trump policies could boost Democrats
Appearing on an episode of her eponymous show on Monday, April 13, Kelly said that if Trump goes against the expectations of his supporters on issues like Epstein, the Iran war, or chooses leniency on immigration, she cannot imagine what will happen in ’26 or in 2028.
“ I cannot imagine what will happen in '26, never mind '28, if Trump betrays the base on Epstein, on Middle East war.”
Further, referring to the “Dignity Act,” a proposed piece of legislation co-sponsored by more than a dozen Republican representatives, she speculated that if Trump grants “amnesty for anyone,” then he is giving the election ball to another court.
“Then grants amnesty…he does that, he's intentionally trying to give the elections to Democrats,” she added.
Megyn Kelly slams Dignity Act immigration plan
Kelly, a conservative who often criticizes the Trump administration over various moves, addressed the uproar surrounding the Dignity Act.
She argued that the measure reflects the kind of approach typically expected from Democrats.
Explaining what could happen if the proposal is approved, Kelly said that while the bill includes some “carrots” for immigration hardliners, such as making e-verification mandatory for businesses to ensure they hire only legal workers, it also provides a dignified pathway toward citizenship.
The bill also proposes a legal process for undocumented immigrants who meet certain qualifications to remain in the country without fear of deportation.
The proposal would grant seven years of temporary legal status if certain conditions are met, such as if the “illegal” immigrant has lived in the country for five or more years, passes a criminal background check, repays back taxes, and pays $7,000 in restitution.
Kelly said that despite controversies alleging rights violations in deportation tactics, polling still indicates strong support on the right, and even among some on the left, for mass deportations.
Critics warn Dignity Act offers amnesty path
Last week on 'The Megyn Kelly Show,' Michael Knowles said the bill “would literally give not only amnesty but a pathway to citizenship for untold numbers of so-called Dreamers, a term coined under the Obama administration, referring to illegal aliens who are brought to this country at a younger age.”
A bipartisan group of representatives led by Maria Salazar and Veronica Escobar introduced the “Dignity for Immigrants while Guarding our Nation to Ignite and Deliver the American Dream Act of 2025” in July 2025.
According to a press release from Salazar’s office, the bill aims to “fix our nation’s broken immigration system” through “the first serious bipartisan immigration solution proposed by Congress in decades.”
