WASHINGTON, DC: The strained relationship between Donald Trump and his former ally Marjorie Taylor Greene shows no signs of improving, after Trump said he does not “love” her “too much.”

The latest update on the deteriorating ties between the two came from the Oval Office, where Trump, pointing at Brian Glenn, openly addressed his relationship with Greene.

Donald Trump says he doesn’t love Brian Glenn’s girlfriend

The update came in the form of an answer to a question by Brian Glenn about the president’s demand that the Senate eliminate the filibuster so Republicans can pass the SAVE Act. Glenn is a conservative journalist, working as the Chief White House Correspondent for Real America's Voice network, and is dating former Trump ally Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Replying to his question, Trump said, “They should do it,” adding that some Republicans were refusing to vote to eliminate the filibuster. “And John Thune is a good man. I said to him, “John, just go take a vote. Let’s expose who the people are. But you know, if we got rid of the filibuster, we could vote on the SAVE America Act. Voter ID.”

President Trump, pointing towards former United States Representative Marjorie Greene, further said, “You know, you act so good. I love this guy. He’s a great guy, even though I don’t love his girlfriend too much.”

Upon hearing the president, the room burst into laughter.

What is the Save America Act?

The act requires proof of citizenship to register to vote in the US election. These proofs can be a birth certificate or a passport.

Several representatives are opposing the proposed act, arguing that millions of US citizens either do not have these documents readily available or don’t have them in the first place.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) has so far rejected Trump’s proposal to end the filibuster, which makes 60 votes mandatory to overcome to pass most legislation.

Donald Trump and Marjorie Taylor Greene's rift

President Donald Trump’s former supporter has been taking him on strongly. Greene, who resigned from Congress in January, has been critical of the Trump administration recently.

She questioned Trump’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files, which have only been partially released by the Department of Justice after Congress passed a law ordering the DOJ to release all the files without redactions, except for the names of victims.

Besides, she has also been critical of Trump’s foreign policy, the war on Iran, and repeatedly asked Trump to reveal the details of the assassination attempt on him in July 2024 during the election campaign in Butler.

After the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ dinner, Greene demanded that the Trump administration release the manifesto of the accused who made an assassination attempt on Trump in Butler, indicating that the incident was staged.
