WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump has threatened to sue The New York Times for its coverage of his Thursday, August 8 press conference at Mar-a-Lago, where he talked about an emergency landing during a helicopter trip with Willie Brown.

On Friday, the former president stuck to the claim that he was in a dangerous helicopter landing with the former Mayor of San Francisco and insisted that he had records to prove it, despite Brown's denial.

Donald Trump slammed the publication for its coverage of his press conference during a phone call with a New York Times reporter on Friday as he landed several hours away from his rally in Bozeman, Montana, due to a mechanical issue on his plane.

On Thursday, Brown denied that he had ever been on a helicopter ride with the GOP presidential nominee. As per NYT, Trump might have confused Willie Brown with Jerry Brown, the former California governor, with whom he traveled by helicopter in 2018 while surveying wildfire damage in the state.

Moreover, Jerry Brown's spokesperson stated, "There was no emergency landing and no discussion of Kamala Harris."

Willie Brown, who briefly dated Kamala Harris during the 1990s, knew Trump as a potential business associate when the real estate tycoon was working on new projects.

Trump said on Friday that he has the "flight records of the helicopter" and added that it had landed "in a field." He also said that he plans to release the records and that he was "probably going to sue" NYT over the article.

Notably, the former president had mentioned the helicopter emergency landing in his 2023 book 'Letters to Trump'.

Internet trolls Donald Trump as he threatens to sue The New York Times

Netizens were quick to bash Donald Trump as he threatened to sue The New York Times for questioning his helicopter story.

One comment read, "Trump always threatens to sue but rarely follows up," and another said, "If they were in a helicopter during the Paradise fire, that would be Marine 1. And if Marine 1 went down in an emergency - it would have been in all the papers! World-wide!"

A person stated, "He's so far gone he doesn't know he's telling lies. DonOld is done," whereas someone else mentioned, "Trump has threatened to sue some individual, news outlet, or construction company/supplier hundreds of times. Threatening to sue is one of his hobbies."

"What a buffoon. I have to say though, if there's one thing about Trump that's impressive, is how easily he can just spew lie after lie," wrote another person, with one more saying, "Go ahead loud mouth. You know the case will be dismissed before discovery."
