Trump says he knows 'little' about Kimberly Guilfoyle’s alleged $100K scandal
WASHINGTON, DC: Standing outside the White House on Friday, Oct 9, President Donald Trump quickly dismissed questions about the controversy involving Kimberly Guilfoyle, his ambassador to Greece.
Trump said he’d only just learned about the allegations and didn’t have much information. When reporters pressed him about reports claiming Guilfoyle asked a former Trump donor for $100,000 to cover a credit card bill, offering political favors in exchange, Trump kept his answer short and moved on.
Trump says he has only heard ‘a little bit’ about allegations
The Wall Street Journal dropped a big report earlier this week, claiming Kimberly Guilfoyle, who used to be engaged to Donald Trump Jr., asked former Trump donor Eric Deters for $100,000 to pay off her credit card bill. In exchange, she reportedly offered political favors.
Q: Do you know about the reports about Kimberly Guilfoyle, your ambassador to Greece? TRUMP: I just heard about it. It's too bad. I mean, I don't know. She's an ambassador. I just heard a little bit about it. I don't know too much, but she always very nice. https://t.co/B1BZN0D6nw

On Friday, Trump addressed reporters outside the White House as he headed to Syracuse, New York. He planned to attend a rally supporting Bruce Blakeman, the Republican candidate for governor.
As a reporter attempted to question the president on the matter, he interrupted, “I just heard about it. It’s too bad. I mean, I don’t know. She’s, she’s an ambassador. Uh, I just heard a little bit about it. I don’t know too much, but she was always very nice.”
Guilfoyle and Trump Jr began dating in 2018, confirmed their engagement in 2022, and ultimately split in 2024 after six years together.
The president did not elaborate on whether he had spoken with Guilfoyle about the allegations or whether the administration planned to review the claims.
“Honey please, I need you to get this done for me today,” a July 3, 2025 Signal message from Guilfoyle to Deters read. According to the Journal, the ambassador then added a “prayer hands emoji and a PDF with bill payment instructions from American Express.”
The message apparently came with a prayer-hands emoji and a PDF detailing how to pay an American Express bill. According to the Journal, Guilfoyle offered her political pull in exchange for money.
These accusations alone don't prove Guilfoyle did anything illegal. Still, the story has grabbed headlines, especially now that she's serving as the US ambassador to Greece.
Accuser faces scrutiny over his own legal history
In a fiery MS NOW appearance Thursday, Deter branded the ambassador a “grifter,” adding, “Kimberly Guilfoyle, I have no doubt, has done this to more than me. She’s doing it right now in Greece. I know Corey Lewandowski did this stuff. I know Kristi Noem did this stuff.”
Elsewhere during that interview, though, anchor Peter Alexander was forced to point out, “You do have a track record of making false statements in court proceedings that led to the suspension of your law license.”
The Hill reports that the Kentucky Bar Association suspended Deters twice for misconduct, specifically, making false statements in court and filing frivolous claims.
That background doesn’t settle whether Guilfoyle’s alleged actions actually happened, but it’s crucial for understanding the public claims her accuser made.
Trump hasn’t shown much about how the White House is handling the controversy. Right now, he’s keeping his distance. He’s said he doesn’t know much about the reports, only calling the situation unfortunate.
