WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump on Saturday, May 23, used a newly released Democratic Party review of the 2024 election loss to criticize former Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Joe Biden, as reports emerged showing deep divisions among Democratic insiders over whether Harris should mount another White House campaign in 2028.

Trump cited the Democratic National Committee’s election “autopsy” report and argued that Democratic policies, rather than campaign strategy, were responsible for the party’s defeat in 2024.

The remarks came as the DNC review examined internal campaign failures, messaging problems, and strategic mistakes that contributed to Trump’s victory last year.

Trump mocks Kamala Harris amid 2028 campaign doubts

Reacting to the Democratic National Committee’s election “autopsy” report, Trump criticized both Biden and Harris in a Truth Social post.

“The Democrats just released an ‘Autopsy’ of their 2024 Presidential Campaign, typos and all, but they refused to discuss two very important words, BAD POLICY,” Trump wrote. “The candidates, Sleepy Joe and then, Kamala, weren’t so ‘HOT’ either!”

Trump’s remarks came as a Vanity Fair report, citing more than two dozen Democratic operatives, former White House aides, donors, and campaign staffers, revealed growing doubts inside the party about another Harris presidential campaign.

One former Harris campaign adviser reportedly described the idea of a 2028 run as “obviously a bad idea,” while a former White House aide answered “Absolutely not” when asked whether Harris should run again.

“I have spoken to maybe one person out of a hundred who thinks she should run,” one former Harris adviser told the publication.

Billionaire Mark Cuban, who supported Harris in 2024, also reportedly opposed another bid, while one Democratic donor said, “I don’t think she should run for president.”

Still, some current advisers defended Harris’ political standing, pointing to her national profile and the more than 75 million votes she received in 2024. “She got more votes than anyone else who’s thinking about running. She has national experience,” one current Harris adviser said.

DNC report faults Biden team, Harris messaging

The Democratic National Committee’s nearly 200-page report examined what went wrong during the party’s losing 2024 campaign against Trump and largely pointed to internal strategic and messaging failures.

The review argued Democrats suffered from “inconsistent messaging and improper planning” and criticized the Biden White House for failing to better position Harris before she became the nominee following Biden’s withdrawal from the race.

“Had the White House explored and evaluated ways to leverage Kamala Harris earlier in the administration, perhaps it would have improved the president’s standing, and it certainly could have helped prepare her to lead the ticket,” the report stated.

The document also faulted Democratic-aligned groups for failing to effectively attack Trump on economic issues, concluding that “Harris lost the economic argument.”

Despite internal criticism, Harris has continued to publicly leave open the possibility of another White House campaign. Earlier this year, she said she was still “thinking” about a 2028 run.
