WASHINGTON, DC: Former president Donald Trump on Saturday, September 7, claimed that the upcoming presidential debate on September 10, will not permit any adjustments to the candidates' height behind the podium.

The former president specifically targeted Vice President Kamala Harris, suggesting that no "lifts" or "stands" would be allowed during the debate to fake the height.

He also referenced previous accusations he made against former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg during the 2020 Democratic primary.

Trump claims 'no boxes or artificial lifts' will be allowed during debate with Kamala Harris

In his Truth Social post on Saturday, September 7, Donald Trump wrote, “No boxes or artificial lifts will be allowed to stand on [sic] during my upcoming debate with Comrade Kamala Harris.”

He continued by referencing his prior experience with Bloomberg, stating, "We had this out previously with former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg when he was in a debate, and he was not allowed a 'lift.'"

Trump had accused Bloomberg of requesting a stand behind his podium during the debate, though this claim was never substantiated.

A spokesperson for Bloomberg’s 2020 campaign dismissed Trump's remarks at the time.

“The president is lying. He is a pathological liar who lies about everything: his fake hair, his obesity, and his spray-on tan," the spokesperson had said, Fox News noted.

In his post, Donald Trump claimed that any height adjustments would be “a form of cheating."

“The Democrats cheat enough," he stated. "'You are who you are,' it was determined!"

It's unclear whether Trump was referring to any specific discussion with debate organizers or simply speculating about potential rules.

Harris has previously addressed her own height, correcting an interviewer during an interview with 'Today' host Katie Couric earlier this year.

When Couric claimed that Harris was 5'2", Harris responded, “I am 5’4" and a quarter — sometimes 5’4" and a half,” she said. “And with heels — which I always wear — I’m 5’7’ and a half, thank you very much,” added Harris.

Internet reacts to Donald Trump's comments on ban on lifts during debate

The former president's comments drew attention and some of his supporters speculated that Harris would be given the questions in advance, referencing the controversy around Hillary Clinton's debates in 2016.

“Prior to the debate Kamala will be provided all of the questions just like Hillary back in 2016. Expect similar results with Trump demolishing her!” one user wrote on X.

"Fairness is key in debates. Keeping it level with no artificial lifts is the right call," another user wrote.

One more user speculated that Harris might receive special treatment before the debate, writing, "Well, except I guarantee Kamala will get the questions in advance."

Another commenter added, "Trump gonna knock Kamala in the debate."
