WASHINGTON, DC: A 12-year-old student, Shea Encinas, who confronted his school for promoting a book about gender transition, took the stage on Monday, September 8, at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, DC.

He addressed the Religious Liberty Commission in front of President Donald Trump.

“I’ve been a Christian my whole life, and Jesus means everything to me,” the boy said, explaining how he felt pressured when the book was introduced in his school.

“When I was in fifth grade, my school forced me to teach my kindergarten buddy about changing his gender using a book called ‘My Shadow Is Pink’. The book said, you can choose your gender based on feelings instead of how God made us. I knew this was not right, but I was afraid of getting in trouble,” he added.

The child went on to describe how his family’s decision to object to the book’s content led to strained treatment from administrators and bullying from fellow students. “After my family spoke up, the school treated us badly and kids started bullying me and my brother because of our faith, and the school did nothing to stop it,” he recounted.

“It hurt a lot, but I kept trusting God. I believe kids like me should be able to live our faith at school without being forced to go against what we believe. I hope no other family has to go through what mine did,” the 12-year-old concluded.

After the student finished speaking, Trump praised the boy for his courage and composure. “Great job. That was delivered well,” the president said, promising that his administration would remain committed to safeguarding religious freedom in education.

Internet reacts as boy who fought against school over faith joins Trump on stage

Netizens showered praises on the 12-year-old boy who challenged his school for promoting a book about changing genders as he stood beside President Donald Trump at the Museum of the Bible.

Supporters hailed both his courage and his faith, with one writing, “A 12-year-old has more courage than the adults running his school. This boy stood up for truth and faith against indoctrination, and now he’s standing beside a President. That’s the America worth fighting for.”

Another praised, “Kudos to this brave young man! In today's social climate, it's truly rare for someone to speak up for their faith and for truth. I hope he and his family stay strong in the face of pressure—justice will ultimately be seen.”

Others admired his poise. “That kid is really brave, standing and talking in front of thousands and millions likely all over the world is no small feat, especially at this age. I hope he will continue with his faith and what he believes is right for the rest of his life, you did well,” a person wrote.

“What an incredibly brave young man. In a world today where they are pushing propaganda down our children's throats at every turn—it lightens my heart to know there are many children out there that will not be susceptible,” read another tweet.

“I love the kind Grandpa move he did, casually walking up and adjusting the mic for the kiddo,” one noted about Trump's interaction with the boy.

“This kid is going places! Keep the faith strong little man,” one more wrote.
