WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump on Monday, July 20, expressed his gratitude to GOP lawmakers for their efforts to push the SAVE America Act and urged House Republicans to unite behind a framework for the third reconciliation bill in Trump's tenure.

Trump’s statement came as Speaker Mike Johnson attempts to secure enough votes to pass the measure by the end of the week.

The clock ticks down for the budget resolution to pass in the House, with only four days left before lawmakers are set to depart for the summer recess. The budget resolution is the first step in the budget reconciliation process.

“I am asking all House Republicans to VOTE YES this week on the Budget Resolution, which is an important first step towards getting a Budget Bill,” Trump wrote on social media.

In his post, Trump also pushed for aspects of the SAVE America Act to be packaged in the budget bill.

“We need Voter Photo ID (Identification!), Proof of Citizenship and, hopefully, No Corrupt Mail In Ballots (except for illness, disability, Military, or travel),” Trump wrote.

“House Republicans must UNIFY, and fight for THE SAVE AMERICA ACT,” the president added later in the post.

Trump began his post by thanking several lawmakers and Speaker Mike Johnson for their efforts to package parts of the SAVE Act in the upcoming budget bill.

“Thank you to our Great Speaker, Mike Johnson, the House Budget Chairman, Jodey Arrington, and the members of the House Budget Committee, including Lloyd Smucker, Ron Estes, Andrew Clyde, Josh Brecheen, Erin Houchin, Mike Carey, Blake Moore, Jay Obernolte, Tom McClintock, and many others, for launching an effort to get AS MUCH of THE SAVE AMERICA ACT as possible in a Budget Bill,” Trump wrote.

The president has been persistent on the SAVE America Act, calling it his “No 1 priority,” even after the Supreme Court handed him a loss on mail-in voting ballots last month.

Trump’s consistent effort to pass the SAVE Act is rooted in his claim that the 2020 general election was stolen and comes amid Republican anxiety for the midterm elections.
