'We're in battle': Johnson accuses Dem Socialists of plotting to abolish the senate, presidency

WASHINGTON, DC: House Speaker Mike Johnson gave a fierce speech at the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) Summit in San Diego and warned Americans against the rise of left-wing ideology, given the recent win of Democratic Socialists.

Johnson framed America's 250th anniversary as an opportunity to push back against the DSA planning to “have Marxists take over the majority in the House."

Mike Johnson, during his speech, tried to expose the left’s alleged plan to abolish American civilization, saying, "We're in an all-out battle to determine if we're going to remain one nation under God."

Johnson, championing American democracy, further said that “a government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth."

"If we're going to remain and keep a constitutional republic, or trade it in, dismantle the foundations and go down this dark, dangerous, deadly road of communism. Not on our watch,” he added. 

As he continued blasting the rising left-wing ideology, Johnson underscored DSA’s take on the border and prison.

"(They) want no borders for the United States, no borders...they don't want prisons, they call that the carceral state, and they just think it's too oppressive," he said.

While the speaker was talking about the socialist wing trying to abolish the US Senate and presidency, he said sometimes he also gets frustrated with the Senate, but he never wants to abolish the system.

"They want to get rid of the United States Senate. They want to abolish the US Senate,” he said.

"They want to remove the presidency. They want one unicameral body, the House, to run the entire government, because they're planning to have Marxists take over the majority in the House," he added.

Additionally, Johnson highlighted the alleged real-time threat of rising left-wing ideology, saying that the particular politics doesn't want the free market and demands that the government control everything.

"They don't want the allowance of private property. They don't want, this is all in writing, my friends, they don't want corporations, private corporations, they don't want the free market, they want the government to take over the means of production. This is real-time stuff. This is what we're facing right now,” he said.

The ADF Summit is an annual conference that brings together leaders in law, government, business, media, education, and the Christian community to discuss religious freedom, free speech and other public policy issues.
