WASHINGTON, DC: After a long absence from the public eye, First Lady Melania Trump appeared alongside her husband, President Donald Trump, on Thursday, taking the lead in welcoming hundreds of costumed trick-or-treaters to the White House. The event took place amid a lengthy government shutdown, with the couple spending time personally attending to the children.

Trump and Melania made Halloween immersive

President Donald Trump’s Halloween tradition continued as he handed out candy, playfully interacting with the children. Melania Trump’s approach was noted as particularly engaging, as she guided the flow of the event and ensured every child received attention.

The couple worked together to create an immersive experience, body language expert Judi James told The US Mirror. “Trump and Melania seem keen to turn this into a fully immersive event,” she said. “It wasn’t just about handing out sweets but also spending time fussing over children individually and chatting with parents, especially familiar faces like Karoline Leavitt."

James highlighted that President Donald Trump appeared energetic and attentive, and that despite their recent time apart, he and Melania Trump shared visible warmth throughout the celebration.

“This looked like a high-energy performance from the President, despite returning from a whirlwind tour of Asia,” Judi James said. “Their body language suggested a shared sense of fun, with grins and eye contact exchanged throughout.”

While President Donald Trump is usually seen as the more dominant presence, James noted that Melania Trump took the lead at this event. “Melania guided the queue of children, beckoning them forward and steering the flow of the event as minor chaos threatened with smaller children jumping ahead,” she explained. “Donald Trump seemed appreciative of a relaxed, family-style event after demanding international trips."

Prior to Thursday, Melania Trump’s last public appearance was on October 10, when she addressed the Grand Foyer of the White House regarding communication with Vladimir Putin about war-displaced children. She did not accompany President Donald Trump on his Asia tour, and her last appearance with him was on October 5, during a US Navy 250th anniversary demonstration.

Her absence followed the demolition of the East Wing of the White House to make way for President Donald Trump’s ballroom project, leaving many curious about her public appearances.
