WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump on Tuesday, April 7, said a “Complete and Total Regime Change” is underway in Iran, hours after the expiration of his 8:00 PM.

The Eastern Time deadline is tied to reopening the Strait of Hormuz. In public statements, the President indicated that Iran’s current leadership structure is shifting, describing the development as a major turning point in the ongoing conflict.

The announcement follows weeks of escalating military pressure and diplomatic messaging from Washington.

Trump paired his warning of potential large-scale consequences with remarks suggesting a possible transition inside Iran.

“Maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS?” he said, signaling uncertainty about how events would unfold after the deadline.

End of 47-year era of corruption

Trump framed the development as a break from Iran’s post-1979 political order, which has defined relations between Washington and Tehran for decades. He described the current leadership as responsible for long-standing regional tensions and internal repression.

By stating that “less radicalized minds” are emerging, the President suggested a shift in leadership dynamics, though no official confirmation has been provided regarding any change in Iran’s governing structure.

“God Bless the Great People of Iran!” Trump added, emphasizing that US actions are directed at the leadership rather than civilians.

Civilization at risk as deadline passes

Alongside the announcement, Trump warned of severe consequences tied to the deadline, stating that “a whole civilization will die tonight” if conditions deteriorate further.

He did not provide operational details but indicated that the situation could escalate rapidly.

The comments came as the deadline passed without a confirmed agreement. US officials have not released specifics about any immediate military action following the cutoff.

Global markets and security agencies remained on alert, monitoring for signs of escalation or shifts in Iran’s internal structure.

‘Smarter minds’ to prevail in Tehran

Trump also said that “different, smarter, and less radicalized minds” could emerge in Iran, suggesting the possibility of new leadership or internal reorganization. He did not identify any individuals or groups involved.

Indirect diplomatic efforts involving regional intermediaries have continued in recent weeks, though no formal agreement has been announced.

The President’s remarks indicate that Washington believes internal developments may now be shaping the next phase of the conflict.
