Trump tells WEF 2020 election was rigged, says ‘people will soon be prosecuted’
DAVOS, SWITZERLAND: President Donald Trump delivered a fiery and defiant address at the World Economic Forum on Wednesday, January 21, using the global stage to once again claim that the 2020 US presidential election was stolen and to warn that prosecutions tied to it are imminent.
Speaking before an audience of global leaders, executives, and policymakers in Davos, Trump framed his remarks as both a warning and a declaration, asserting that accountability is finally approaching. “It was a rigged election. Everybody now knows that. They found out,” Trump said. “People will soon be prosecuted for what they did.”

Trump champions nationalism and slams Europe’s policies
Throughout his speech, Trump leaned heavily on themes of nationalism and national sovereignty, sharply criticizing what he described as Europe’s embrace of globalist policies and unvetted mass migration.
“Certain places in Europe are not even recognizable, frankly, anymore. They’re not recognizable,” Trump told the audience. “Many parts of our world are being destroyed before our very eyes, and the leaders don’t even understand what’s happening, and the ones that do understand aren’t doing anything about it.”
He positioned his administration’s approach as a counterweight to what he called failed leadership abroad, urging countries to prioritize borders, elections, and accountability.
“You need strong borders, strong elections, and ideally a good press,” Trump said. “Strong borders, strong elections, free, fair elections, and fair media."
Trump blasts NATO, questions US role on Ukraine
Trump also used the Davos platform to lash out at NATO, accusing the alliance of treating the United States “very unfairly” and relying excessively on American resources.
According to Trump, the alliance’s very survival was tied to his leadership. He went further, claiming the war in Ukraine would never have begun had the 2020 US election not been “rigged.” “They have to work on Ukraine. We don’t,” Trump said, arguing that the burden placed on the United States has far outweighed any benefit.
“What does the United States get out of all of this work, all of this money, other than death, destruction, and massive amounts of cash going to people who don’t appreciate what we do?” he asked. “I’m talking about NATO, I’m talking about Europe.”
Trump renews calls for prosecutions at Davos
Trump’s remarks also reflected long-standing frustration among his supporters over what they view as a lack of accountability for alleged wrongdoing by political elites in the United States. He again pointed to what he described as crimes committed by American politicians, renewing calls for arrests and prosecutions.
The president’s comments come amid growing impatience in conservative circles, where expectations of sweeping investigations and legal consequences have remained unmet despite repeated promises. While Trump did not name specific individuals during his Davos remarks, his warning that prosecutions were forthcoming was unmistakable.
