WAUNAKEE, WISCONSIN: GOP nominee Donald Trump is the only living president of the United States, former or present, who did not wish former president Jimmy Carter on his milestone 100th birthday on Tuesday, October 1, reported The Daily Beast.

The business tycoon amped up the controversy by invoking Carter's legacy while speaking at a campaign event in Wisconsin that day, only in an attempt to criticize incumbent Joe Biden.

After calling Biden “the worst,” Trump went on to quip, “Jimmy Carter is the happiest man because Jimmy Carter is considered a brilliant president by comparison.”

Jimmy Carter celebrates 100th birthday

Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States of America, celebrated turning 100 with his friends and family at his home in Plains, Georgia, on Tuesday. He had entered hospice care in February 2023.

Carter was saluted by a military flyover which he enjoyed from his backyard.

With the exception of Donald Trump, all living US presidents, including Bill Clinton, George W Bush, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden, shared their messages congratulating Carter, excerpts from which were shown by the Carter Center at his birthday concert last month at Atlanta's Fox Theater.

The centenarian who left office in 1981 has had the longest post-presidency of any former commander-in-chief. He has reportedly stated through his family his intention to vote for the Democratic nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris, in the upcoming November election.

Internet reacts as Donald Trump skips wishing Jimmy Carter on 100th birthday

Netizens reacting to the news on the social media platform X called out Donald Trump for not wishing Jimmy Carter on his milestone 100th birthday and making a not-so-positive comment against the 39th president. The following tweets demonstrate their takes.

"Shocking, but not surprising. The ignorant buffoon walked in front of QEII on his visit to GB back when he was president and Her Magesty was still alive," wrote a user.

"He wouldn’t be the center of attention if he did," jibed another.

"Yes, because he's very petty. It is classy to be a decent human being," chided a third.

"If it isn't all about him, then who cares," mocked a fourth.

"What a disgrace!" exclaimed a fifth user.

"Because Trump is an egomaniacal dirtbag who only cares about himself," expressed a sixth.

"Fact check: Trump hasn’t exhibited brain waves for decades," quipped yet another.

"Trump has no grace, no sense of decency," echoed another user.
