WASHINGTON, DC: Vice President Kamala Harris shared her struggle with insomnia after President Joe Biden suspended his reelection campaign and endorsed her in July, while appearing on a podcast on Monday, September 30, reported the New York Post.

The 59-year-old Democratic nominee further told 'All The Smoke' hosts Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson that her decision to have Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate was also made after she was unable to sleep much the previous night.

A cooking aficionado, Harris said that she turned to the activity to calm her mind in the pivotal moment of her political career.

Earlier this year, Biden was considered to be the presumptive Democratic nominee, winning the necessary support in the Democratic primaries across the United States. However, following his disastrous performance in the first presidential debate against his GOP rival Donald Trump, he was forced to step down in July.

Since then, Harris claimed that she felt very rushed, as Biden had also endorsed her for the top spot on the Democratic list. The mounting pressure started taking a toll on her and she found it increasingly difficult to rest.

“From the time that the president called me and told me he wasn’t running, I mean, it’s just like everything was in speedy, speedy motion, and I was not sleeping so well,” the vice president told the former basketball stars.

“And that one morning I just, I mean, I had, I don’t know, a few hours’ sleep — and I, you know, I like to sleep. I just got up,” she continued of the day she announced her vice presidential candidate.

"I was like — so I just went out and got a pork roast and started marinating it. And my family were all going to be in town, so they were very happy about the whole situation, but I just got up and started — everybody’s asleep, I just got up and started cooking.”

Harris later mentioned managing her stress by exercising every morning, and “a prayer that comes in after that every day.”

Conservatives call Harris 'unfit' for presidency

Conservatives on the social media platform X trolled Harris for opening up about her experience. The following tweets demonstrate their takes.

"She is so unfit to lead this country," wrote a user.

"Imagine how many other important decisions she'll f**k up and blame on insomnia once she's elected," shared another.

"The work hasn’t even started yet! She’s not qualified," echoed a third.

"Way to show leadership Harris. This is JUST how glass ceilings are broken, by whining," jibed a fourth.

"Excuse after excuse after excuse," quipped a fifth.

"This is major oof," mocked yet another with a meme.
