Trump says, 'if deal says, Iran will be blown up'
Reporting details of the call on Fox News, Yingst said he spoke with Trump for around 20 minutes and the president left no ambiguity about what could happen next.
“I just spoke with President Trump for about 20 minutes and he told me if Iran does not sign this deal, the whole country is getting blown up,” Yingst said on air.
He added that Trump specifically warned Iran’s infrastructure would be targeted if diplomacy fails.
“He went on to say that bridges and power plants will be targeted if Iran does not sign this agreement,” Yingst reported.
According to the correspondent, Trump said senior envoys were being dispatched to Islamabad for talks beginning Tuesday and possibly continuing into Wednesday in an effort to “get this agreement across the finish line.”
Yingst also said Trump described the proposed arrangement as straightforward, calling it “a very simple deal,” while stressing this was “the last chance for the Iranians.”
Trump lays focus on Hormuz and uranium
Yingst said the president outlined several key conditions tied to the negotiations.
Among them were keeping the Strait of Hormuz open, ending maritime threats, and resolving the issue of enriched uranium.
“The deal on the table is to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, to ensure that the Iranians do not have this highly enriched uranium,” Yingst said while summarizing Trump’s position.
The Fox correspondent added that Trump told him the United States was fully prepared for renewed conflict if the diplomatic push collapses.
Yingst further reported that Trump planned to send a formal letter to Iranian leaders laying out what is at risk if they reject the deal.
