WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to post a message for Russian President Vladimir Putin, but ended up sparking a meme fest on the internet.

The post was regarding the Russian strikes on Kyiv, Ukraine and Trump expressed that he was not happy with this. He also mentioned the "peace deal" in his post and urged to make it happen.

Donald Trump's stern message to Vladimir Putin

Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social, "I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV. Not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, STOP! 5000 soldiers a week are dying. Lets get the Peace Deal DONE!"

He made the post after Russia fired missiles and drones at Kyiv on Thursday, April 24, in the deadliest attack on Ukraine's capital in months.

The attack reportedly killed eight and injured more than 80 people, as reported by the BBC.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said falling drone wreckage caused several fires, and it was feared people were trapped under the rubble of a residential building, per the outlet.

Moreover, blasts were also reported in the north-eastern city of Kharkiv, injuring around two people, the mayor added.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky ended a trip to South Africa to deal with the aftermath of the strikes.

Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022 and since then, has not stepped back.

Trump has often been vocal about the war and has stated that he would be willing to form a peace agreement to end the war.

During a CNN town hall meeting in 2023, Trump had said that if he gets elected in 2024, he would end the war immediately.

"They’re dying, Russians and Ukrainians. I want them to stop dying. And I’ll have that done — I’ll have that done in 24 hours," Trump had said.

Following the recent missile attack on Kyiv, the Kremlin's top security official said Russia reserves the right to use nuclear weapons if it faces aggression by Western countries.

Sergei Shoigu, a former defense minister who now leads Russia's powerful national security council, said on Thursday during an interview with the TASS state news agency that Russia might go for a nuclear strike in reply to a conventional attack on Russia, or its ally Belarus, that "created a critical threat" to their sovereignty or territorial integrity, per USA Today.

Shoigu's remarks and the missile attacks have come at a critical moment during the war.

Donald Trump's post sparks memefest

Even though Donald Trump made the Truth Social post with a serious intention, it ended up sparking a memefest on social media as he mentioned "Vladimir, STOP!" in his message.
