WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump is reportedly peeved with the way Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky was welcomed by King Charles at his country home, Sandringham.

The monarch stood shoulder to shoulder with Zelensky for photos, which made the US president feel “less special” about the invitation for a state visit to Britain by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer extended to him a few days ago, as reported by the Daily Mail.

The meeting between Charles and the 47-year-old Ukrainian leader took place on Sunday, March 2, where the latter reportedly received a warm reception, contrary to what he experienced in the Oval Office while meeting Trump on February 28.

Volodymyr Zelensky called the meeting with King Charles “very good”.

“I'm very grateful for this meeting and for how His Majesty helps Ukraine and supports us," he said.

“He's met our warriors here, being trained in the UK, and we're very thankful to the royal family for their support,” he added, as per BBC.

Meanwhile, Charles’ meeting with outgoing Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau on March 3 has also bothered Trump, who has asked Canada to become “the 51st US state” of America.

King Charles also meets Canadian PM Justin Trudeau

After the meeting, Justin Trudeau shared on X, “I met with His Majesty King Charles III this morning. We spoke about matters of importance to Canadians — including, above all, Canada’s sovereign and independent future.”

Besides, an insider close to the king said, as per The Daily Beast, “It is business as usual, but with everything on a heightened level of significance. Canada is particularly on his mind.”

They noted, “Of course, he knows he has to be mindful of being the UK head of state and the head of state in Canada, as well as being the head of the Commonwealth. It does require delicate diplomacy, given that not everyone’s interests are aligned.”

UK denies any issue with the US after King Charles' meetings

A UK government spokesman denied the claims that Donald Trump was unhappy with King Charles' meetings with Volodymyr Zelensky and Justin Trudeau.

“We do not recognize these reports. We have been unequivocal about the importance of the US as an ally of the UK. No two countries are as closely aligned as ours on economic, defense, security and intelligence interests, and we share deep historic and cultural ties. We will continue to work hand-in-hand and look forward to welcoming President Trump.”

However, a mole spilled, "Things definitely went a bit cool in Washington after Sandringham. We told them that the king makes his own decisions about who he meets.”
