BILLINGS, MONTANA: Former president Donald Trump's plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Billings due to a mechanical issue, a Billings airport official told Fox News on Friday, August 9.

The GOP presidential nominee was headed for a campaign rally in Bozeman, approximately 120 miles west of his landing site, which was scheduled for the same evening. He is to take a private flight to his destination.

Donald Trump's message after landing in Billings

Trump shared a video message over social media following his forced pit stop but did not mention any issues with his plane or the diversion.

"I just landed in a really beautiful place: Montana. So beautiful, flying over, and you just look down and that's the way it's supposed to be," he said. "We have a very high rating in Montana, we have a lot of popularity. I like them, they like me."

"I'm here to do some fundraisers and most important to support Tim Sheehy who's running for the US Senate, and we think he's going to do really well. We're going to have a rally. And it'll be a lot of fun."

He was scheduled for a fundraiser before speaking at the Montana State University at 8 pm local time. His endorsed candidate Sheehy is running against incumbent Democratic Sen Jon Tester in the state.

Back in January, Trump gave Fox News a private tour of his plane, which is a Boeing 757 nicknamed Trump Force One that includes a living room, flat screen TV, and a lounge.

"I'm a worker, right? I'm not a pleasure guy. I'm a worker guy, and it's a tremendous plane for that. It's got great speed, and all that energy gets us to where we're going on time," he said, even joking that it was "nicer" than Air Force One.

Trump's recent comments, calling some immigrants from Mexico as drug traffickers and rapists, have stirred up reactions on both sides of the aisle. Although fellow Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry has denounced Trump's comments and his campaign in general, U.S. Senator from Texas Ted-Cruz has so far refused to bash his fellow Republican nominee. MAGA supporters express their concern online

Netizens, especially Republicans spoke out in concern for Trump's safety while reacting to the news on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). The danger posed by the incident, only weeks after he suffered an assassination attempt, heightened their fear, as the following tweets demonstrate.

"Man, first a bullet and now a plane malfunction. I know, I know but I don’t think 'they' have given up," wrote a user.

"Keep him safe at all costs!!!" exclaimed another.

"How did this happen? Thank God for redundancy in almost all safety and operational equipment. Keep Trump safe..!" shared a third.

"Omg.. this makes me nervous. Please, y'all pray for trump. We need him wrapped up in the lords arms," commented a fourth.

"Not usually a normal thing for Trump Force 1 right?" inquired a fifth user.
