WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump posted a video on his social media platform which had references to a "unified Reich" associated with Nazi Germany.

The White House hopeful shared 30-second video on Truth Social on Monday, May 20, highlighting the scenario if he wins the November election.

However, beneath a hypothetical news headline in the video, the term "unified Reich" appeared. The word "Reich" is associated with Nazi Germany's Third Reich, which was ruled by dictator Adolf Hitler, according to the Associated Press.

According to the outlet, Trump's video referenced the creation of the modern pan-German nation, which unified smaller states into a single empire, or Reich, in 1871.

Trump campaign press secretary says it was not a campaign video

The short video was posted on the former president's Truth Social during his lunch break from the hush money criminal trial in Manhattan. Shortly after, the Trump team confirmed that the video was not part of his campaign.

"This was not a campaign video, it was created by a random account online and reposted by a staffer who clearly did not see the word, while the President was in court," campaign press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement.

The video appeared on the 45th President's social media network at a time he attempted to criticize President Joe Biden's stance on rising antisemitism. However, Trump had often made Nazi Germany-related rhetorics praising Hitler.

At a recent fundraiser, the soon-to-be formal GOP nominee accused Biden of running a "Gestapo administration," referring to Nazi Germany's secret police force.

Trump had earlier echoed Hitler when he said the illegal immigrants entering the US through the southern border were "poisoning the blood of our country" and labeled his opponents "vermin."

Furthermore, in 2022, he had dinner with a Holocaust-denying white nationalist, and in 2017, he refused to condemn the far-right group that chanted "Jews will not replace us!" at a rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

The 30-second video had verbatim copied text from Wikipedia about World War I. It read, "German industrial strength and production had significantly increased after 1871, driven by the creation of a unified Reich."

One image showed the headlines "Border Closed" and "15 Million Illegal Aliens Removed," above a smaller text with the start and end dates of World War I.

Video posted on Trump's social media scares the Internet

Netizens expressed their horror after seeing references to Nazi Germany's rule in Trump's video.

One user wrote, "The American dream is a nightmare." Another stated, "Saying the quiet part out loud…again…"

"This might be the scariest thing I’ve ever seen," a user said. Meanwhile, a response read, "That is more horrifying than anything we’ve seen so far. But the problem is neither candidate is a good one."

Another person added, "Wow. The 'creation of a unified reich'!! That's chilling. I bet they used AI to mock up the background, and someone didn't notice or comprehend the significance of that term. Or else they actually included it on purpose. Oy."

Someone else stated, "This sickens me to my core. This is one bit of history that should never be repeated, yet here we are."

"These words should send chills down everyone’s spine. These are the words of a sick person. They are being echoed by sick people," an individual asserted.

Another user added, "They’re telling you exactly what they’re going to do. Don’t ignore it."
