NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: In a fiery appearance on MSNBC's 'The 11th Hour with Stephanie Ruhle,' legendary actor Robert De Niro ignited a social media storm with his scathing criticism of former President Donald Trump.

The Oscar-winning star, now 80 years old, drew comparisons between Trump and infamous World War II dictators Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini, while also launching a verbal attack on him with a barrage of insults, as per Daily Mail.

During the interview with Ruhle, De Niro unleashed a torrent of insults, labeling Trump "a sick person," "a narcissist," "a monster," and "a stupid bully."

The iconic actor expressed grave concern about the possibility of Trump regaining the White House, warning that people "don't understand how dangerous it will be if he ever" returns to power.

Drawing parallels to history's darkest chapters, De Niro stated, "Historically, from what I see, even in Nazi Germany, they had it with Hitler. They don't take him seriously. 'He looks like a clown. Acts like a clown.' Mussolini. Same thing. These guys, I don't know why they look like clowns."

Judge Juan Merchan scheduled Trump's criminal trial to begin on April 15, which would make it the first criminal prosecution of a former American president. Trump was charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records last year, which prosecutors say was an effort to hide a potential sex scandal, both before and after the 2016 election. This wasn't the first time De Niro had made inflammatory remarks about the former president.

In a 2019 interview with The Guardian, the actor echoed similar sentiments, saying, "They laughed at Hitler. They all look funny. Hitler looked funny, Mussolini looked funny and other dictators and despots looked funny."

Just last month, De Niro erupted into a profanity-laced tirade against Trump while talking with Bill Maher, asserting that Trump's supporters "like to f**k with people."

He further declared, "He's such a mean, nasty, hateful person. I'd never play him as an actor, because I can't see any good in him. Nothing. Nothing at all. Nothing redeemable in him."

De Niro has relentlessly criticized Trump for years, particularly after intensifying his public condemnations leading up to the 2016 presidential election.
