WASHINGTON, DC: Trump Media and Technology Group has officially launched a new subscription data service that allows paying customers to access posts from Truth Social's biggest accounts, including President Donald Trump's account, before other users.

The service, called Truth API, went live Saturday and provides trading firms and institutional subscribers with faster access to posts that could influence financial markets. Customers can pay up to $100,000 a month for the service, with the company saying it had already signed up subscribers ahead of the launch.

Trump's Truth Social posts become a paid data product

The new offering follows similar paid data services available on other social media platforms, but Truth Social has drawn attention because of Trump's role as both its most influential user and the largest shareholder of its parent company.

Trump Media and Technology Group has not specifically mentioned Trump's account in its announcement. However, the @realDonaldTrump account is by far the platform's largest, with around 13 million followers as of Saturday.

Trump has frequently used Truth Social to announce major policy decisions and statements before they are shared elsewhere. His posts have previously triggered significant market reactions.

Last year's "Liberation Day" tariff announcement sent stocks tumbling nearly 5% within hours, while a follow-up post suspending those tariffs for 90 days, which included the message "THIS IS A GREAT TIME TO BUY!!!", helped fuel a 9.5% single-day rally that added around $4 trillion in market value.

His posts related to the Iran war, including a June ceasefire announcement, also drew close attention from investors and affected oil prices.

Since Trump is also Trump Media's largest shareholder, he could benefit from the company's new revenue stream while his posts continue to attract market attention.

Critics question Truth API over investor access concerns

The launch has drawn criticism from ethics experts and lawmakers who argue that giving paying subscribers faster access to Trump's posts could create an advantage for certain investors.

“It’s odious, selling access to highest bidders on Wall Street,” said Dylan Hedler-Gaudette, an expert on federal ethics rules at watchdog Project on Government Oversight.

“Everything he says has market implications.”

Critics have accused the service of creating concerns around market fairness, as Trump's Truth Social posts have previously influenced investor sentiment and financial markets.

Last year, when global stock markets faced volatility and concerns grew over the US economy, Trump posted more than 100 times on Truth Social in a single day. Many of those posts focused on Iran, drawing attention from investors monitoring oil prices and inflation risks.

Meanwhile, Trump Media's stock has declined significantly, falling more than 70% since Trump returned to office and wiping out billions in shareholder value.

Democratic Sens. Adam Schiff and Elizabeth Warren sent a letter to SEC Chair Paul Atkins urging the agency to investigate the service. They wrote that it "appears to be an outrageous abuse of the President's office for his personal benefit that undermines everyday investors and the integrity of our markets, while enriching Wall Street and other wealthy insiders."
