'Trustworthy traitor': Internet trolls Lindsey Graham for saying there's no ‘smoking gun’ in Joe Biden impeachment inquiry

COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA: Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has found himself in hot water after indicating that House Republicans haven’t gathered enough evidence to impeach President Joe Biden.

On Sunday, December 17, the 68-year-old Senator was in an interview on NBC News’s ‘Meet The Press’ when he claimed that he hasn’t “really been paying that much attention” to the GOP’s investigation into Biden and his family’s foreign business dealings.

“They have to prove that President Biden somehow financially benefitted from the business enterprises of Hunter Biden. We’ll see,” Graham said, referencing his GOP colleagues in the House.

The Senator then continued by arguing that if there were a “smoking gun” in the inquiry, there would be more discussion about it.

He also added that he believes the “narrative” by Hunter Biden and the president at the center of the House’s impeachment inquiry into President Biden is “falling apart.”

“But…the narrative that Hunter Biden presented is falling apart. The idea that Joe Biden knew nothing about the business dealings is falling apart. I’m not worried about impeaching the president right now,” Graham continued, adding he is more concerned with the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Impeachment inquiry into President Biden

Graham’s remarks came just a few days after the House decided to formalize an impeachment inquiry into Biden with a 221-212 vote along party lines to approve a resolution authorizing an inquiry.

The vote followed months of investigations into hotly contested claims that Biden inappropriately benefited from or used policy to help family members' overseas business ventures, most notably his son Hunter Biden. The investigations were spearheaded by House GOP lawmakers.

House Republicans are also investigating claims that the Department of Justice slow-walked a tax crimes probe into Hunter Biden, who was indicted on charges of evading taxes on foreign business earnings.

In September, former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif) declared that the many GOP investigations into Biden would be included in the impeachment process, though he refrained from holding a formal vote at that time.

Last week’s vote came just hours after the president’s son made a brief appearance at the Capitol, where he gave a public statement instead of appearing for a scheduled deposition for a subpoena at the House Oversight Committee.

Internet reacts to Lindsay Graham’s remark on Biden's impeachment

Graham’s remarks have garnered immense social media attention, with users trolling him for claiming that he hasn’t seen a “smoking gun” in Republicans' Joe Biden impeachment inquiry.

“Yeah he’s such a trustworthy traitor,” one user said. “He is already hated by MAGA and he knows it,” wrote a second.

“Lindsey Graham is a lying Biden Regime Uniparty operative. I don't know one Republican voter that likes Lindsey,” another user fumed while one more person stated, “Lindsay also admits to not opening his eyes the whole time.”

“Well gee, case closed then ya? I mean if LINDSEY said it, must be true. Right? Right. Because Lindsey, I mean Lady G, has the credibility you crave. That’s legit hilarious,” a fifth person mocked.

“Graham hid the smoking gun for his boss on Jan.6th so he knows what they look like,” one more alleged.
