WASHINGTON, DC: A clip that resurfaced online on Monday, October 27, shows former Fox News host Tucker Carlson claiming that California Governor Gavin Newsom is capable of beating a lie detector test.

Interestingly, Carlson has consistently accused the Democrat of being dishonest and has criticized him for what he perceives as a calculated and cold approach to politics.

Tucker Carlson claims Gavin Newsom's 'palms don't sweat' while lying

In the resurfaced clip from a December 2023 episode of the 'All-In' podcast, Tucker Carlson said, "One thing I know for a fact about Gavin Newsom is he has the capacity to beat a lie detector test."

"Gavin Newsom will say anything he needs to say, not like Biden, he has the guilt. If he is lying to you, he gets twitchy. Gavin Newsom's palms don't sweat. His respiration doesn't increase. His body temperature doesn't change. Nothing changes in Gavin Newsom when he lies to your face," the former Fox News host added.

Carlson went on to claim, "There are not many people like that actually. That's a rare quality. Like to lock down the state, to keep people's children from getting education, and to arrest people for surfing, and then go have lunch with the French laundry. Like most people couldn't do that."

"In 50 years of being around a lot of people, I met very few who could behave that way. Very few. It's very unusual quality and is probably useful in politics," the conservative commentator concluded.

Gavin Newsom rolls out fake accent as he paints new picture of himself

During a recent appearance on NBC's podcast 'All the Smoke', Gavin Newsom talked about growing up poor.

The California governor also mentioned hustling to pay bills and surviving on Wonder Bread and mac and cheese, portraying a completely different picture from his well-known privileged background.

During the interview, Newsom discussed his childhood, saying how his mother, who divorced his father when she was young, worked multiple jobs to support the family.

The 58-year-old said, "My mom was 19, pregnant, and divorced a few years later with two kids. Came from no money and just hustled. Worked hard, grinding every single day. Two and a half jobs, no bulls**t."

"We had roommates all the time because she couldn’t afford the rent. It was about paying the bills, man. It was just like hustling. I was out there kind of raising myself, turning on the TV, getting obsessed. Sitting there with the Wonder Bread and macaroni and cheese," Newsom added.

He further mentioned that he spent most of his childhood practicing sports in the backyard. "Every day in the backyard, bouncing the basketball, throwing the ball against the wall unit, entertaining yourself," the Democrat recalled.

"Then this sh***y student, head down, started throwing. The baseball got a little faster. I started making a few free throws, practicing 500 of them every night in high school. It just saved me and got me into college," he added.

The interview clip also showed a change in Newsom’s speaking style, as he used phrases such as "paying the bills, man" and "hustling," which was interpreted by many as an attempt to sound more relatable.
