WASHINGTON, DC: Vice President Kamala Harris elicited laughter from her audience on Monday, May 13, after using an f-bomb while offering guidance to young Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders, according to The Hill.

During the annual Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies Legislative Leadership summit, Harris said, "We have to know that sometimes people will open the door for you and leave it open. Sometimes they won’t, and then you need to kick that f*****ng door down." She added, "Excuse my language."

Notably, the vice president was being moderated by actor and comedian Jimmy O Yang, who joked, "We gotta make T-shirts with that saying."

Yang prompted Harris to consider her experiences as the first Black American and South Asian American vice president of the United States and how her ancestry has influenced her opinions and leadership style before using the expletives.

Harris said, "Here’s the thing about breaking barriers. Breaking barriers does not mean you start on one side of the barrier and you end up on the other side. There’s breaking involved, and when you break things you get cut. And you may bleed. And it is worth it every time."

President Joe Biden and Harris are scheduled to give speeches on Tuesday, May 14, at a White House reception celebrating the month.

Notably, six months before the election, in May, the Biden-Harris reelection team started a $14 million ad campaign targeting Black, Latino, Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander voters.

Internet divided as Kamala Harris uses f-word during speech

People on the Internet had polarizing opinions on Kamala Harris' use of the expletive.

A person wrote on X, "I mean, it’s typical locker-room talk," while one added, "I cheer this behavior--sometimes ya gotta say what's on your mind."

Meanwhile, one stated, "Everyone knows it’s a basic staple of the English language," whereas one mentioned, "Citizens know her background in politics sout was not surprising."

Another X user wrote, "Sounds like a slip up. I do not mind passionately speeches and we all know F bombs are part of life," while someone else stated, "She should resign in disgrace."
