WASHINGTON, DC: Vice President Kamala Harris has faced considerable scrutiny during her time in office, with critics fixating on everything from her policy positions to her personal mannerisms.

Harris acknowledged that public figures often face ridicule for simple things like tripping or falling, and she has been no exception when it comes to her laughter.

"You were asking me earlier about what it means to be, like, the first woman. And, you know, it's funny, because people still got to used to this, right?" Harris told host Drew Barrymore.

"I mean, my staff, for example, sometimes they'll show me little things that just amuse me. Like, apparently, some people love to talk about the way I laugh," she added.

The vice president explained that her laughter is a reflection of her upbringing and the women in her life who would gather around the kitchen table, sharing stories and laughing wholeheartedly. "Let me tell you something," Harris said. "I have my mother's laugh. And I grew up around a bunch of women in particular who laugh from the belly."

Harris firmly stated that she would never suppress her laughter to conform to others' expectations. "I'm not that person," she asserted, offering advice to those who struggle with criticism.

"And I think it's really important for us to remind each other and our younger ones, don't be confined to other people's perception about what this looks like, and … how you should act in order to be right," she expressed.

The full interview, focusing on Harris' experience as the first female Vice President, is scheduled to broadcast on Monday, April 29. Barrymore has previously hosted President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr Jill Biden.

Internet in splits in wake of Kamala Harris' remarks about her laughter

The news of Harris' remarks about her laughter sparked a divided response on social media platforms. One user expressed, "Never met an intelligent person who laughs as much as she does. It's a sign of stoopit."

Another user commented, "People don't care if someone laughs. Harris 'laughs' to cover up times when she doesn't know what she's talking about, or when she's caught in an inconsistency."

A third user weighed in, remarking, "It's a cackle, not a laugh. And it sounds like nails on a chalkboard." Another user wrote, "It's not HOW you laugh, it's how OFTEN you laugh. It's very irritating on both levels."

However, there were also those users who came to Harris' defense, with one user stating, "MAGA hates the sound of women's voices." A sixth user asserted, "Republicans hate Kamala because she laughs. They hate laughter. They love people who look angry, mean and frustrated. Like Trump on his mugshot."

Another user mentioned, "HATING someone's laugh just proves how much hate u have in your heart." Lastly, an eight user declared, "Black VP lady makes Trumpscum feel inadequate."
