Aziz Ansari reveals Keanu Reeves fractured his kneecap after tripping over rug on set of 'Good Fortune'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Aziz Ansari addressed how Keanu Reeves ended up with crutches in late January.
The 'Parks and Recreation' actor told the CinemaCon 2024 crowd on Wednesday, April 10, that the 'John Wick' star fractured his kneecap in his trailer while on the set of 'Good Fortune'.
Ansari revealed, "About, I don't know, 15 days into shooting with me, I was like, 'Hey, just go chill in your dressing room for 15 minutes'. And he tripped on a rug. He's like, 'Aah, my knee,'" as per PEOPLE Magazine.
Keanu Reeves continued filming 'Good Fortune' despite his injured kneecap
Reeves and Ansari, who wrote and directed 'Good Fortune', star in the film along with Keke Palmer and Seth Rogen.
As told by Ansari, his committed co-star kept filming even with his fractured knee. "He was like, 'I'll do it!' We're like, 'Keanu, calm down. We'll do the salsa dancing once your knee's healed,'" noted the comedian.
The 41-year-old emphasized that Reeves has done his own stunts in so many movies, including for the hit 'John Wick' series.
Ansari stressed, "In 'Speed', he actually did attempt to do the jump from the car to the bus. It wasn't the take they used, but he did do it."
When the project was announced in April 2023, Lionsgate Motion Picture didn't want to miss out on the opportunity.
"We have indeed found good fortune with this film," said Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Chair Joe Drake to Deadline.
He added, "We love the script and believe strongly in Aziz as both a performer and a director. And when you add in Seth and Keanu – two incredible world-class talents — toplining alongside Aziz, this has the potential to be a very special film for us."
Keanu Reeves' first novel 'The Book of Elsewhere' comes out in July
When it comes to his other projects, Reeves is excited about the launch of his first novel, 'The Book of Elsewhere', which is inspired by his 'BRZRKR' comic book series.
During his appearance on 'Good Morning America' in January, the 'John Wick' star shared, "The series tells the story of an immortal warrior's fight through the ages, and I love the world of 'BRZRKR' so much that I wanted to explore it further, and I thought one of the best ways to do that is through a novel."
The genre-bending book, which is expected to be released on July 23, has been co-authored by China Mieville, a British speculative fiction writer.
