DOLTON, ILLINOIS: In a shocking development, former Village of Dolton Trustee Valeria Stubbs, a retired member of the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, has come forward with chilling allegations against embattled mayor Tiffany Henyard.

Stubbs claims that her home was targeted in a hail of gunfire last summer, allegedly orchestrated by Mayor Henyard herself amid a bitter feud between the two.

Allegation of targeted assault

The incident, which occurred in July, saw two cars belonging to Stubbs' tenants being riddled with at least nine bullets. Stubbs firmly believes that the attack was a direct result of her public criticism of Mayor Henyard, who has faced accusations of misappropriating funds from the debt-ridden town of Dolton for personal luxuries.

In an interview with the New York Post, Stubbs did not mince words when asked if she thought Henyard was behind the shooting. "Absolutely," she declared, citing previous menacing encounters with the mayor at her residence.

Stubbs recounted an incident during a snowstorm last winter when Henyard allegedly appeared at her home, followed by a bizarre video posted by the mayor showing herself shoveling snow from Stubbs' driveway.

“This is what it looks like when you pull up on your haters,” a smiling Henyard says in the clip. “Guess what? I am there for all my haters. It doesn’t matter. Because I am the mayor of all of Dolton — the good, the bad, and the ugly. And even the hateful.”

Despite Stubbs' denial of requesting such assistance, the confrontational interaction escalated further, culminating in a subsequent visit from Henyard accompanied by a "caravan of police and city workers".

“I wasn’t home, and they rang all the doorbells of me and my tenants, asking where I was,” she said. “They called me and told me there were all these people outside. I called Henyard, but she didn’t answer.”

The retired deputy recounted feeling harassed and intimidated by the repeated visits from Henyard and her associates, prompting Stubbs to confront the mayor during a public board meeting, demanding an end to the unwelcome visits.

“I wanted it on record that this woman was coming to my house and harassing me,” she said. “I told her not to come to my house again under any circumstances."

Feud escalates

The situation escalated two months later when Stubbs awoke to the sound of gunfire around 6.30 am. Rushing outside, she discovered her tenants' cars peppered with bullet holes, cementing her belief that Henyard was responsible for the terrifying attack.

Despite reporting the incident to local authorities, Stubbs expressed distrust in the police department, alleging ties between Henyard and members of law enforcement.

“They refused to give me the police report,” she said. “And I haven’t heard anything since. We don’t trust the police here.”

The pervasive fear in the neighborhood has led residents to adopt precautionary measures, such as informing each other of their whereabouts and notifying neighbors upon their return home.

Henyard's controversial tenure as mayor has been marked by headline-grabbing antics, including dressing as a fictional drug kingpin during a board meeting and using provocative music to accompany proceedings. Critics accuse her of running the town as a personal fiefdom, using intimidation tactics and leveraging law enforcement for personal gain.

The dire financial situation of the town, exacerbated by Henyard's spending habits, has led to mounting debt and potential repossession of essential assets, such as police cruisers.

Stubbs, along with other concerned residents, hopes for accountability in the face of rampant corruption.

"I just want to see justice done," she told the Post.

Internet condemns Mayor Henyard

As news of Stubbs' allegations spread on social media, people condemned Mayor Henyard's actions in strong words.

"Unbelievable," one posted on X.

"If she didn’t need security before, I’m sure she does now… she has people all over the world hating on her now lol," another wrote.

"It’s pretty remarkable how a mayor could wield this much power. Pretty remarkable how important she thinks she is too," someone else added.

"She needs to be charged with corruption," another insisted.
