Pritzker to Noem: “Don’t Let the Door Hit You on the Way Out”
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker unleashed one of the sharpest reactions to Kristi Noem's firing, posting a video on X with a blistering message: "Don't let the door hit you on the way out." Pritzker laid out what he called Noem's legacy — "corruption and chaos, parents and children tear-gassed, moms and nurses, U.S. citizens, getting sh*t in the face." He warned that her departure doesn't mean escape from accountability, saying, "I guarantee you, you will still be held accountable." Pritzker also posted a parody LinkedIn profile for Noem listing her as "DHS Secretary (Former) | Unlicensed Dog Euthanizer" with the #OpenToWork banner. The Illinois governor has clashed with Noem since the beginning of Trump's second term over immigration enforcement in Chicago, where Operation Midway Blitz saw federal agents conduct midnight raids and shoot 31-year-old US citizen Marimar Martinez five times. Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson said Noem "will not be missed" and accused her of weaponizing fear to undermine community trust. Sen. Tammy Duckworth added that Noem "should've been fired a long, long time ago," while Minnesota Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan echoed Pritzker's line, saying Minnesotans won't forget what Noem's DHS did to their neighbors.
