Thousands Brave Sub-Zero Cold in Minneapolis for Statewide General Strike Against ICE Enforcement
Despite bitter sub-zero temperatures near -10°F, thousands of Minnesotans marched through downtown Minneapolis as part of a statewide general strike against federal ICE enforcement actions in the Twin Cities. Organizers called for an economic blackout and demanded that immigration agents leave the state amid mounting tensions over recent federal operations. Hundreds of local businesses closed, and a broad coalition of labor unions, faith leaders and community groups took part in the demonstrations — which have been one of the most visible displays of public opposition to ICE in the region.
