Viral video shows Rihanna enjoying Barbados carnival in nearly unrecognizable jewel-encrusted look

BRIDGETOWN, BARBADOS: Rihanna recently made heads turn as she attended the Grand Kadooment Day carnival in Barbados and looked nearly unrecognizable in a jewel-encrusted costume. Videos from the festival showed the ‘Love the Way You Lie’ hitmaker enjoying the festival on the road with fellow attendees. 

The Grand Kadooment Day is celebrated like the finale of Barbados' annual Crop Over Festival, a three-month cultural celebration that began in 1687 to mark the end of yearly harvest. Held on the first Monday of August, the event is attended by thousands of people dressed in dazzling masquerade costumes as they parade through the streets to local music.

Rihanna, who was born and raised in Barbados, has often taken part in the festivities wearing eye-catching costumes to celebrate her Bajan heritage. In the latest videos, the ‘Diamonds’ singer was seen making merry wearing a colorful ensemble.

Inside Rihanna’s dazzling Grand Kadooment Day look

This year, the pop icon donned an optical-illusion bodysuit adorned with hundreds of multicolored sequins, crystals, rhinestones, and gemstone embellishments. The outfit created a masquerade-like appearance similar to a jeweled armor while maintaining the signature look ideal for Caribbean carnivals.

The biggest attraction of the ensemble was a massive gold-and-turquoise jeweled headpiece featuring intricate details, oversized gemstones, dangling crystal chains, and a decorative mask-like structure that partially covered her face. The ornate headdress also framed her head with large circular gold motifs.

Additionally, the headpiece also consisted of a dramatic cluster of multicolored feathers in bright shades of pink, turquoise, lime green, yellow, orange, and purple attached to the back. The oversized feathered piece spread out behind her, creating a rainbow-like halo effect ideal for vibrant Kadooment Day masquerade costumes.

Rihanna’s accessories also matched the costume’s aesthetic and included crystal arm cuffs, beaded bracelets, jeweled decorative pieces on the shoulder, and embellished leg straps that went down till her thighs. The jeweled strands of her costume dangled as she danced alongside other attendees during the event.

The singer completed her look with bright red lipstick, natural glam makeup, and kept her dark hair tucked beneath the headpiece. The colorful ensemble transformed Rihanna into a dazzling carnival masquerader, allowing her to blend with the Barbados Crop Over festival crowd.

Rihanna’s carnival appearance comes after son Riot’s third birthday celebration

The 38-year-old mom-of-three attended the Grand Kadooment Day festival a day after celebrating her second child, Riot Rose’s third birthday. Rihanna and ASAP Rocky hosted a Spider-Man-themed birthday bash for their son at what appeared to be the ‘Umbrella’ singer’s Barbados home.

Her sister-in-law Nadia King took to Instagram to share glimpses of the special celebration, which included Spider-Man-themed standees, balloons, decorations, and a special “Kid Bar” with a “Riot 3” text banner, offering customized cakes to the partygoers.
