WASHINGTON, DC: Democrat Representative Dan Goldman (D-NY) is facing the heat over his controversial remark on Donald Trump in 2023.

During the MSNBC TV interview last year, the congressman said, "We saw what happened on January 6th, when he used his inflammatory rhetoric now, and his recent truth social post is incredibly, incredibly scary for anyone that might be trying to work in government."

Goldman added, "And it is just unquestionable at this point that man cannot see public office again. He is not only unfit, he is destructive to our democracy, and he has to be eliminated."

Dan Goldman, the following day issued a statement over his comment on X, "Yesterday on TV, I mistakenly used the wrong word to express the importance for America that Donald Trump doesn’t become President again. While he must be defeated, I certainly wish no harm to him and do not condone political violence. I apologize for the poor choice of words," reported PM.

Interestingly, Goldman has continued to attack the former president, and in May, he said Trump is “paving the way to become a Vladimir Putin or to become an Adolf Hitler.”

The “eliminated” comment resurfaced following the second attempted assassination of Trump on Sunday, September 15, by suspect Ryan Routh.

The 58-year-old was reportedly spotted at the fences outside the Trump International Golf Club in Florida by the Secret Service, armed with a scoped AK-47 rifle. He also said to have set up a GoPro camera on the fence as a part of his sniper's nest with the apparent intent of recording the shooting.

Rep Dan Goldman gets slammed for his comment on Donald Trump during live TV interview

Netizens held Dan Goldman accountable for his comment on Donald Trump during a TV interview with MSNBC. Many demanded action against the Democrat over his choice of words on a media channel.

One person shared on X, "Dan has some serious psychological issues. He should consult a phycologist!"

"It was a Freudian slip. He said what everyone is thinking," a netizen felt. "And, of course, people are gonna put words in his mouth since he used the word eliminated." another chimed in.

Someone else expressed, "As an independent voting for kamala Harris. This statement is uncalled for. Eliminated? Really?. Am a fan of congressman Goldman but what is wrong should be called out."

Another individual wrote, "This man Rep. Dan Goldman is a lawyer, speaks in defense of Biden constantly. He knows the exact words to use and the exact moment."

"For once I would like to see someone make THEM accountable. Call them out for incitement. He needs to be thrown out," another person voiced online.

A user commented, "These aren’t people in a friendly dispute with their ideological opposites. These are corrupt criminals fighting for their lives. Of course they want the guy who exposes and threatens to dismantle their mafia put down."
