SAVANNAH, GEORGIA: Former president Donald Trump, during his economic speech in Savannah, Georgia, on Tuesday, September 25, unveiled his vision for a “manufacturing renaissance” in the US.

Trump promised that the US will be a "different country" as he will take "other countries jobs" and "their factories." The former president referred to the implementation of sweeping changes to boost American manufacturing and bringing jobs back from the overseas.

Donald Trump pledges to revamp manufacturing in the US

Donald Trump outlined a plan that included offering ultra-low taxes and regulations to incentivize industries to relocate to the United States, focusing heavily on bringing factories and jobs from other countries to US soil, Politico noted.

During his address, Trump laid out his ambitious goal to take on global competition, promising a resurgence in American manufacturing.

“Under my leadership, we’re going to take other countries’ jobs,” Trump said, adding, “We’re going to take their factories.”

He promised to bring back “thousands of businesses and trillions of dollars in wealth” to the US, stressing that relocating industries from abroad would bolster the American economy.

Trump also spoke about his desire for foreign car companies to set up shops in America, particularly eyeing German manufacturers.

“I want German car companies to become American car companies. I want them to build their plants here,” Trump said during his speech in Georgia, reports Bloomberg

Donald Trump proposes special federal zones with tax incentives

As part of his detailed proposal, Donald Trump introduced the idea of creating special federal zones with “ultra low taxes and regulations” for American producers.

These zones would serve as incentives for companies to relocate their operations to the US.

He further announced plans to appoint a “manufacturing ambassador” whose sole mission would be to encourage major manufacturers to move to America.

“We will set up special zones of federal land with ultra low taxes and regulations for American producers,” Trump said.

He promised to push for massive deregulation, stating that he would “cut 10 old regulations for every one new regulation.”

Trump also took pride in his previous term, saying, “I cut more regulations than any president in history in four years.”

Donald Trump appeals to auto workers and discusses tariffs

A key part of Donald Trump’s address targeted auto workers, a group he claimed had been hit hard by decades of “incompetent leadership.”

“I am pinpointing you for greatness,” Trump said, appealing to blue-collar workers in the audience.

He vowed to end a car electrification mandate while praising "great" Tesla CEO Elon Musk for endorsing him, saying his products are “phenomenal.”

Trump also discussed his plan to impose steep tariffs on companies that manufacture products overseas but want to sell them in the US.

“The only way they’ll get rid of that tariff is if they want to build the plant right here in the United States with you people operating that plant,” he stated.

“We want American citizens, and we want their plants built here,” Trump said in Savannah, Georgia.
