DETROIT, MICHIGAN: Governor Gretchen Whitmer shared a video urging people to vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the upcoming presidential election. 

The Democratic leader shared the video on her social media, updating followers about her participation in Oprah Winfrey’s livestream 'Unite for America – Country Over Party’ event.

In the video, Gretchen Whitmer talked about what to expect from the livestream event, as she felt “honored” to participate as Michigan’s Governor. 

Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris will also address people in Michigan on Thursday, September 19.

Earlier, Oprah Winfrey took to social media to announce the streaming event.

"What has inspired me this election season has been watching different groups of people gather to support Vice President Kamala Harris in her historic nomination for President of the United [States],” she wrote over Instagram.

The 70-year-old added, “Win with Black Women! White Women: Answer the Call! Latinas for Harris! White Dudes for Harris! South Asians for Harris! And so many more. Which is why I’m hosting 'Unite for America,' a live streaming rally event on September 19 at 8 PM EST, where we will bring more than 140 groups together to motivate people to VOTE!”

The Unite for America event issued a press release on its website, “The event will serve as a call to action to work in communities throughout battleground states to register people to vote and build support in advance of November 5th.”

Netizens called out Gretchen Whitmer as many criticized Kamala Harris for her incompetence. The Vice President is set to join Oprah Winfrey for the livestream campaign on Thursday, September 19.

A user wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "Maybe you can tell her supporters what her policies are; because no one seems to know."

"Signed up for it. Looking forward to it. The enthusiasm and momentum is incredible," the other user said. 

Another accused, "Oprah, along with other celebrities are buying up Hawaiian lands when that’s for people like my family who have a claim to some of that land because of heritage."

"Have a backbone and stand up for your country instead of continuing to lie to our faces," one netizen expressed.

A user trolled Harris, "Will she answer if she believes America is better off now than four years ago or will she ramble about her middle class upbringing and how everyone had nice lawns?"

Another attacked, "No thanks that’s 3 incompetent women who spread misinformation all the time."

"Go get ’em, Madam Governor!! In eight years, it will be your turn!!" one praised Whitmer.
