WASHINGTON, DC: An old clip of Kamala Harris urging “everybody” to go “woke” has gone viral!

The official Democratic nominee for the upcoming presidential election is facing criticism and some even referred to her as a “communist functionary,” and “too radical” to run the office.

“We have to stay woke. Like everybody needs to be woke. And you can talk about if you’re the wokest or woker, but just stay more woke than less woke,” then-Senator Harris said in 2017 during Recode’s annual Code Conference.

She was joined by philanthropist Laurene Powell Jobs, the widow of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs at the event.

The conference addressed various subjects like immigration and the environment, and Kamala Harris also talked about Donald Trump's administration’s drug and immigration policies.

“I get upset when we say we’re going to shut our door to refugees who are fleeing such atrocities and have been standing in line for two years to qualify for refugee status, and they arrive here, and we turn them away. Yes, I’m gonna get mad about that," Harris said.

"I’m gonna get mad when we have an attorney general who’s trying to resuscitate the war on drugs. And he thinks the greatest evil that mankind has ever seen is marijuana. … Leave Grandma’s medical marijuana alone,” she continued.

Harris after her statement during the conference on going "woke" stood by her words and posted a day later on social media, “We have to stay active. We have to stay woke.”

The word “woke” means attentive to issues such as social justice, and became popular in 2017 after several leading dictionaries added it to their repository of words. It has been a catch-all term for left-wing topics and agendas.

Kamala Harris called 'low-level Communist functionary' by conservative author James Lindsay

Conservative author James Lindsay has also slammed Kamala Harris over the old video of her asking people to go "woke."

“Kamala is a low-level Communist functionary, and I’m tired of being told we have to pretend she’s not,” he wrote.

Recently, President Joe Biden dropped out from the November election after announcing his withdrawal from re-run for the office, per New York Post

GOP nominee Trump stepped up his attack on his Democratic counterpart Harris by misspelling her name twice in as many social media posts on Monday, August 5, reported Mediaite.

In two successive posts on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump misspelled Harris' first name as "Kamabla."

"People vote with their STOMACH, and food is now at an all-time high because of Kamabla/Biden INCOMPETENCE. With them in charge, IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE!" he wrote in the first post.
